Narrowed 8 3/4 brakes

I had a shop recently narrow my 8 3/4 housing and install aftermarket axles. Would the original drum brakes work on the axles until i save some money or do i have to go aftermarket.

They should. The new axles should be made to the same extension specs as the originals.

they should bolt up fine.shortening should only affect length and nothing else.

Only one way to find out for sure is to install your backing plates and stick on the parts or measure the axle spacing against what the factory calls for.

 

[5.7 hemi]

The hard lines may have to be tweaked some since the overall length is short now. All I did was gently pull on the hard line by the u bolts and they fit fine and mine was narrowed 1 inch per side.
