Natural residential gas

Keep in mind the appliances one uses is as important as the meter.. Last year Here in Omaha a realtor with a Property management company walked into a vacant house, when she noticed a gas smell. She immediately called the gas company, from inside the house! Using Her cell phone ignited the gas, and blew the house off it's foundation, and also destroying the Houses on either side of the subject property.
Did she survive?

I don't know, to me, 60 psi through black pipe doesn't seem anything to worry about, as long as the connections are tight. What does an HVAC pro say about that ?

Most utilities are using plastic in ground and pipe risers. Acids in the ground that eat steel pipe have no affect on the plastic.

I'm referring to inside the house, which I believe is his concern.

Max 2 psi most old houses like they are talking it would be 7 inch water column or 1/4 psi

Around here, 7 inches wc is the standard pressure in a residential house. When we need more capacity, the elevated pressure is 2 pounds. That runs to a Maxitrol 325 regulator and then t'd off to each appliance at standard pressure. The Maxitrol does not need to be vented outside as long as it has the vent limiter installed. I have seen a couple of 5 pound systems in commercial applications, but they are not very common.

Corrosive to pipes. We can not even run matural gas threw copper pipe. Got to be stainless steel, plastic or black pipe. Been replacing copper and aluminum appliance lines for a few years now.
Squirting soapy water on connections to check for leaks is corrosive? I've never heard something so rediculous!

In BC where I work the utility will supply 7 inwc which is 1/4 lb ,2 psi, 5 psi or city pressure of 60 psi
2 psi max for a home
