Need a little help with where this wire goes

Assuming it is from a ’72, it appears it's from a California spec car, I do see the NOX speed switch connector near the reverse/NSS plug.

What’s with the beige harness wrap on this engine and reverse/NSS switch harness found on this car? Any Ideas? I believe I know but curious about your take on it.
Is it possible that this brown tape was used by local dealers for added equipment after leaving the factory?

Does your car extra items not normally found on such models?

When I acquired the car in ’06, it was far from a perfect example of how it was originally equipped. The harnesses in question are clearly original, no signs of any modifications other than the connector for the ECU being cut off. The NOS harness pictured above would verify some harnesses were built that way from the factory. Yes, it is possible it was a vendor/supplier variation of some kind but doesn’t seem to be the case. Color coding electrical components is common place in the industry, more prone to believe it is intentional and has some meaning.

From my days at the dealers back in the seventies, I remember seeing various replacement harnesses with other than black wrap. Would normally indicate an improvement or change of some kind from the original part/harness it was replacing. Could simply be a superseded part/part number.

I'll have to dig through my box of fender tags and find the one to the 72 SSP and see where it was built. Don't know if it matters just curious.
