I'm pretty sure you have to remove the windshield to get at the bolts that run along the channel and there are more supporting bolts around the bottom perimeter at various locations. Hopefully someone can confirm and show some photo's Barry.
Ooops i read that as 'dash' not 'dash pad' last night. nevermind
Take out the instrument cluster, radio, and glove box. You should then be able to get to the nuts that hold the pad to the metal dashboard. Probably need a 1/4" drive socket set with a long extension. I think the nuts are 3/8, but don't know for sure. (Its been a long time ago)
