Almost forgot. Had dinner at this place last night. Great Vegan menu.

Got down to San Diego earlier. Smooth sailing all the way. I was rolling along between 55 and 60 keeping the r's and fuel consumption down so around Corona and Elsinore we got left behind. No biggie as I know where we were going, spent over half of my adult life in so cal, so when the group took the 76 west to Oceanside and 1-5 south to 805 south then the 52 east back to the 15, we beat them. I already know that area and it's boring, at least to me. The coast area where we currently live is light years better/more scenic/less populated. Going to hit Phil's BBQ for grub tonight. MMMMM!! Tomorrow we head east to Indio. I'm doing half of each route on the directions. 1st half up to where I used to live, see some friends and show Darren where we lived before, go past there some then cut north and catch the other routes last portion so Darren can see the Palm Springs/Palm Desert road down the mountain. From there, get to Indio for the next gathering. Supposed to be some Autocross going on. Today's gathering was just a hangout. I had some fun with the owner of the Cuda. Asked him if it had a bb Chevy. Can you see why?

Yes …. 402 ! Wasn’t that the actual displacement of the Chevy 396 back in the
Early 70’s….
Had a friend with a 69 SS396 Camaro 4 Speed … man would that car do burnouts !!

I knew it was a stroked 360. Just love pulling peoples legs sometimes. If it were mine, it would be 406. But then, thats a Ford size too. Maybe just no decal.

Today we went from Palm Desert[ where we stayed] to Lake Havasu in Az. Left at 6:30 to beat some of the heat. I'm guessing it's cooler here because we are by the river. Topped off some fuel in Vidal Junction since I didn't know how much further Parker Az was. Two mistakes there. Gas was $7.00 a gallon, thieves, then had a senior moment. FORGOT MY GAS CAP! It's somewhere between here and there. Vanessa is chasing one down for me. Nothing available around here or Phoenix area in our time frame. The locking one that Autozone showed fit inside the car perfectly once I rolled the window down. Translation: incorrect manufacture info. So for now it's a big wad of paper towels and duct tape. Duct Tape drags anyone? I did order one up from the store I used to work at. Will pick that up when we get home on Saturday. If it too is wrong, I'll look at dimensions in the back of the Stant catalog and find one that will work.

Got to Chandler for the last day. Watched some autocross on the Radford track. Many cool rides running. Heading home tomorrow, leave at 3am latest. Beat the heat, some, plus things to do and places to be. Gonna take 10 hours or so rolling along at 55-60.

just curious

Sometime down the road, a/c and GV are on the to do list. Plus redo front seat, complete suspension redo, upsize the brakes all around along with 15's[ already know what tire sizes I want], diy frame connectors, efi? maybe, rewire, LED headlamps, freshen engine/trans, get rid of the Green bearings plus some other things that slip my mind.
Did not see that 64. Have seen it before, just not on the cruise.
If it wasn't for my friend Darren taking care of the entry[ I covered transport, fuel, some grub] it would not have happened for me. He missed it last year due to heart surgery. Has to get a total redo since the "surgeon" was a clown. Has tests on Monday[ which is why we need to get home tomorrow afternoon], surgery on the 24th, by real doc's at Cedar Sinai. Come hell or high water, the man wanted to attend this year.

We hit the trail at 1am yesterday. Got Darren to his place around 1:30pm, me home around 2. I didn't feel much heat reduction in the ambient temps until we were near Banning. It felt great from there. Once we were past Goleta it was a welcome sight to see the coastal weather. It was very wet overnight here at home. The wet deck and fog were a nice relief. The dogs were happy as there was no walks while I was gone. Slept for 10 hours last night and did a 3 hour nap today. Wiped out from the lack of sleep, heat and travel. But man did we have fun!
