Greetings Hawk! Wow this a pleasant surprise, you got what it takes to plan and organize. Wondering if the driving will be highways or "avoid highways". With my 3:91s I'm not able to keep up on the speedways but I'm all in for the road courses! I'm definitely "in" if avoiding highways, I can do some highway stints but 70mph all day not so much, besides I cruise to enjoy the scenery. My rear has been howling forever and maybe getting worse, the thought of a 3:55/3:23 swap for a tour "maybe" an option as well... As you might recall I'm in Holden, MA 348 miles to The Glen. I will put in a work PTO request in the meantime, thanks!

Had a thought when I read this. Why not smart out on the right coast and continue all way to the left coast? Hawk has the first segment planned. Someone could take it from there how ever far they wanted and the next person could step up, and continue that pattern to the Pacific. People could fall in and out wherever they wanted. I think that would be neat. And If it worked out you could do a different route every year, crisscrossing the states.

Great question.

The answer is we will avoid highways as much as reasonably possible. I haven't mapped out the route yet, but I try to find scenic roads as much as I can. However, the route can be adapted too, so if someone doesn't like the planned route it can be switched. The key is to arrive at the same destinations, although we will try to stay together where we can.

Sounds like a cool idea. If someone wants to tack on a route that's great!

Interesting idea...right now I'd be free 3rd and 4th weekends in May (I do concert production so lots of weekend work for me). Could be a good run for the Charger...since you say "no minivans" I guess I can't bring my factory turbo Voyager, even though it would make a good chase vehicle....

OK, let's admit it: most minivans aren't cool. However, an old turbo Mopar Voyager might be different enough to draw interest. I'd say it would be allowed. :drinks:

...just don't try to join us with a Ford Windstar! :poke:

lol I was just :poke: over the "no minivans" statement. I'd have to get a transmission in it first - decidedly non-stock boost levels managed to eat the one that's currently in it, I have first and reverse and neutral and park. Kinda. She's toast. I have spares, just need to try and remember which are usable and which are cores

A definite maybe here, Hawk. I'll wait to see how the dates and life unfold

Barring a quick change in circumstances, I'm out this year. Wife dealing with fall out from eye surgery, can't drive for near future. I'm saving my days away from home for Carlisle. Hawk, does this sound familiar?

Hope the wife pulls through quickly Adam. Send our regards please.

I might be in for Warren Ohio and around to falling water, but I might be limited depending on the weekend getting stuff ready for power tour in June.
Waiting to see your dates.

Unfortunately yes. I hope her eye issues get resolved. Dealing with eye problems is not fun nor easy.

Will hopefully have a final date in the next day or two.

OK, we finally have dates! Man, let me tell you, it was really hard to get dates that worked for a few key members and needs! The weekend ended up being later than I expected, so I hope these work OK for most. I recognize these dates are getting close to the Hot Rod Power Tour dates.

Dates are Thursday 29 May 2025 (meet up date) to Monday 02 June 2025.

Day 0: Meetup day - Thursday 29 May 2025
We will meet in Watkins Glen Racetrack on a Thursday. Watkins Glen does have some ability to drive the track, so I will be looking into driving our cars around the track for those that can get there early enough (no promises until I start getting an idea of how many will join us plus figure out cost to do this). We will stay in the Watkins Glen area for the night (Hotel/ Motel not yet determined).

Day 1: Drive to Packard - Friday 30 May 2025
After breakfast, we will drive from our hotel to the Packard Museum in Warren, Ohio. Overall, plans are for about 4 hours of driving every day and the rest of the day to relax and enjoy some sights. On this day, we will check out the Packard Museum in the afternoon. Then time for dinner and we will stay locally (Hotel/ Motel not yet determined).

Day 2: Dyno Thrash! - Saturday 31 May 2025
On this day, we will drive to member @Nxcoupe place in Red Lion, Ohio. I will leave extra early and the goal will be to thrash my car on the dyno and see if we can tune a few more HP into it. No BS horsepower claims will be possible for me here! Tour members will be part of the audience and may also have the ability to put their cars on the dyno for a fee (time permitting - there will be limited slots available. Please let me know in advance if you are interested in putting your car on the dyno). We will stay locally (Hotel/ Motel/ accommodations not yet determined).

Day 3: Some Architecture - Sunday 01 June 2025
We will tour to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater cabin house in Mill Run, PA, after again, about a 4 hour drive. There is also a nice overlook called Paradise Overlook that we may have time to check out. We will stay locally (Hotel/ Motel not yet determined).

Day 4: More cars! - Monday 02 June 2025
We will drive East and end our tour in Morgantown, PA at a place called the Classic Auto Mall. This is a converted shopping mall where the entire facility is set up for displaying classic cars for sale as well as storing them for customers. We will tour the classic auto mall, have dinner and close the tour after dinner.

General Themes/ Plans/ Rules:
  • Any person my join for the whole tour or any part of it, as you choose. If you can only join for a day, that's fine!
  • The overall goal will be for 4 hours of relaxed driving per day. The destination and proposed meet up time will be provided to all, so we can drive together or separately as individuals prefer. Only exception will be Saturday morning, as I will leave early to get my car on the dyno as soon as possible.
  • Everyone pays for themselves and makes all reservations themselves. I will provide a more detailed plan as we move forward with some potential hotel names, but I cannot register people for hotels, food venues, attractions, etc.
  • I am not a formal tour operator, and anyone joining us does this trip at their own risk. There is no charge to join this tour from my perspective - it is just a bunch of friends getting together for a drive.
  • We will, of course, try to help any member with issues if we can, but there will be no sag wagon or formal support vehicle.
  • Your tour vehicle: It really should be something cool and different. Any classic car is fine (Mopar, of course, preferred), as are modern muscle cars and anything else "cool".
  • If you are really interested in going, but cannot bring a car, send me a note. We MAY (no promises here) be able to arrange a "ride along". This is just an initial thought, so I don't know how possible this really is. The expectation for any passenger would be to share in fuel costs, for example.

Please let me know below if you may have interest. (I will also start a separate thread at some point)
