I currently have an 4.10 8 3/4 rear end in my 66 Coronet. I want to install a Dana.
Here is the help I need:
1) I have a narrowed rear end that is mini-tubbed for tire clearance. I haven't measured the end to end of the rear end yet but don't really know where to take the measurements.
2) The springs are moved "inboard" with the relocation pockets.
3) Do I also measure where my spring mounts are welded to my axle housing, or what.
I need advice on how to go about the info I need to order up a complete Dana Rear End from one of the suppliers.
Your thoughts and help ??
Thanks, MikeView attachment 247421

A short answer would be that if you are going order a complete dana from a supplier, talk to Cass at Dr. Diff. He will talk you through the needed measurements. He can make a dana to fit or he can get one from Strange for you. He supplied the S60 I have in my 65.

Just noticed that Dr. Diff has an axle calculator here that may help you:

Cass is at Mopars at the strip so you might have a tough time getting ahold of him until next week when he's back. But I highly recommend. Great guy.

1.) you need to know the axle/axle length. Pull your wheels and drum/rotor off and have you and a buddy put a level on the flange face and measure side to side width.

You can also measure the brake offset. Hook your tape measure on the axle flange and measure to the housing end itself. An 11" drum is 2.5" offset, the other mopar size is 2.375. If your going aftermarket then you just order your axles to whatever brake kit you want to use.

2.). For spring perch center/center just measure what you have now. Or you can just let the springs hang and measure ctr/ctr of the center pins.

3.). If your car is lowered or any ride height change the pinion angle has changed from factory. If your satisfied with what you have now, put a level on the spring perch and get it perfectly level. Then put an angle finder on the pinion or the housing face to get the angle. Your new supplier can then weld your new perches on to this spec.

Good luck.
