Need feedback

Replaced the motor mounts with some MityMounts. The driver side mount was toast. Still have a shake though. Got the rear end all taken care of. New Detroit Truetrac and went up to 3.55 gears from 2.76. Yukon axles and green bearings. When I was replacing the mounts at my friends shop his dad owns he was saying something about the shaking possibly coming from the harmonic balancer. Should I go through the ignition first? Very new to mechanics so thank you for all the feedback and help.

sure do teh ignition first but you can eyeball the harmonic balancer
put a stripe on it and see if it moves
get it fixed quick *replace* if it looks questionable they can go through the hood- radiator- clutch fan and really hurt someone

If the shaking gets stronger as the rpms are increased, and it does it whether or not the engine is in gear or not, then it's a mechanical balance problem. Might be balancer, night be something else. If it comes and goes, or does not get stronger with rpm, it's probably a tuning/running issue and you need to diagnose things. IMO it's a waste to throw parts at it until you know what you're aiming at.

It happens at idle when in gear most often. Even reverse. Does not increase with RPM. Goes away completely. Doesn't seem to do it when cool and freshly started in first drive of the day. Got some time to work on it finally tomorrow.

Just a thought- rear trans mount good? Sounds like vacuum leak,carb settings,timing.

I bought a transmission mount from mancini. Just in case for tomorrow.

Still working on it. Haven't had much time due to hectic schedule at work. Should slow down in two weeks so I can get some time. I will report back for sure.

Sounds like a miss. Pull the spark plugs and look for a wet or fouled one. Or you can pull the plug wires one at a time and see if one doesn't make a difference. If you find one like that check the plug wire and plug.

If there is a vacuum leak at the manifold, it can effect the two cylinders sharing that runner. Just a vacuum hose or cap being off could cause this. Think simple things first. Good luck!
