I recently pulled the driveline out of my car and am trying to figure out what torque converter I have. It's in a 727, big block engine. The numbers I can read look something like cr104h, 506, and 6147. I don't know if these have any meaning

Thanks for any help

Original to the car? By the looks of it, it's not anything but a low stall stock type converter.

Thanks Cranky.
Nothing original, everything changed prior to my ownership. Mainly trying to figure out whether I can use this converter after I beef up the engine

Cam is a Comp XE262H, 218 intake and 224 exhaust at .050". Will go bigger after the engine rebuild

I've used stock type converters before with more then just mild cams. What happens is it'll kill your low end and then haul pretty good once it's past a certain rpm. Even a stock or nearly stock cam, a car will benefit with a higher stall converter. A 2500 stall comes to mind with a mild build usually works well but if you plan on a bigger cam a bit later on, why not get a converter that fits the build you have in mind and install it once....

Yep, will need a higher stall than stock, thanks
