I am getting ready to drop in my racing engine and I need sparkplug wires. How do I go about selecting the best wires? Is there such thing as overkill? Do I need to match the wires to my particular application. I plan on upgrading to an MSD ignition some day but just have the mopar electronic ignition with orange box for now. Any recommendations or experiences would be helpful.

I second the Firecores, and Rick is a great guy to deal with. They are very quick to ship
and will set you up with what you need. Good luck.

well if you run a radio, i say no to firecores. they dont work, noise, noise ,noise,
i use the taylor 409 and msd 8.5 ones. i believe themsd and taylors are cheaper too.

i paid $130 for my taylor 10.5mm wires .... MUCH better than the jacobs electronics that were on before ! ...

if i'm using taylor 409 wires on my 605 b1 ts motor, which cost a fortune. you know i wanted to use the best.

I've got Firecores and have no problem with the radio. Great wires.

I dont know Chris as I am running the Firecore wires and have no radio interference at all. I listen to my radio all the time when I am cruising. Ron

Were running Firecores on our Hemi. they work as good as the MSD wires and they fit a lot better.
I recommend them. Not to mention Rick is a class act with great customer service.

when i bought back my a12 superbee, there was a set of firecores on my car. static everywhere from my speakers. i put back the repro date coded wires and no more intereference,
they are still sitting in a box not used.

I see the problem Chris. You still have original eng paint on your 6pk car. :D But seriously I dont know why yours did that but that 6pk eng looks real good. :icon_thumleft: How many miles are on that eng Chris ? Ron

chris.... Maybe that's why you're always rich... Them Taylors can't burn all the fuel so you have to take fuel out.
If you would put a good set of Firecores in then you'll have to jet up also. LOL

Damn Ron... how did you pull that off? Although we paid for the wires at Nowalk, Rick come over and custom made the set up for us so it fit good. Can't beat that with a stick.

not sure about now but taylor was the #1 wire for top feul cars and that tells me there good enough for me.........Artie

Looks like I am leaning toward the Taylors. I have a 440 with Hedman headers. Should I get the 180 degree boots or the 90 degree? Or do they sell a set with mixed boots that I can crimp on myself?

Pulled my 383 out and found out it is NOT numbers matching as I had thought. The good news is that I did not pay for a numbers matching car and now I am not afraid to have fun with it in fear of depreciating the value. :) My next step is to clean and paint the engine bay. This is my first time tackling a project like this. My first engine build too. Hopefully She won't break first time down the track.

RON.IT is built as a pure stock. machine work done by best machine. its been a best of 11.97 in stock trim. 11.0:1 compression. it has about 2000 miles on the rebuild.

90 degree boots should work fine.
taylor 409 plug wires are thick and have very low ohms per foot.
i just put them on my 582 hemi belvedere
