PK3410668L 3023 6939 local guy has this 727 for sale, would like to know what the code brake down is. Thanks in advance

Kokomo plant (PK)
Sequence (3410668) puts it in an early 1970 383 4BBL. No idea what the "L" is

(6939) sequence number

I'd be interested in what internal parts that trans has. How many clutches in the front drum, what ratio is the front band lever, how many planetary gears in both front & rear how many springs in the front servo. Seems like there were so many variations.

IDK if even the 383 HP got for palanataries and clutches (you do NOT want 5 clutches without a lot of extra work) and no 5+ lever
should be a good core
throw a Transgo reprogramming kit in the valve body
for most builds 3 clutches HOLD just fine- 4 gives more DURABILITY

I think if you make power 450+HP, you want 5 front drum clutches. The clutch steels & discs to fit a standard 4 disc drum are available & sure seem to be great. A 3.8 lever or 4.2 with a good red band. I've used both the small Hemi inner front servo spring & the stock dual spring. Toss up. Make sure you get a good valve body. Shift kits are a street quick fix. A re-man race style valve body with HD parts does what you want if you have HP.

I agree I was saying do not try and find the factory 5 clutch drum and arm
we used 5 in snow plows and mud boggers and other similar apps
or as you say a really high hp app that you are not going to be servicing often
TF is seductive as it is so strong and durable- Used them behind blown BBC as better than any GM trans
One key is a low band apply or else the sprag is the weak point especially on and off the throttle
or hooking up after a burnout- have a broom handy

The 5 disc Hemi drums & bands are for collectors, Turbo Action recommended the 5.0 lever & light Hemi front servo spring. I ran many lever/spring combinations. The 3.8 or surely the 4.2 lever worked at least as well as the 5.0. I still am a believer in the 5 disc front clutch in the OEM 4 disc drum. The Cope clutch/steel components I used recently worked great with the 4 disc drum & standard spacer. Many thousand runs with a stock sprag. Could be just lucky or knew how to do a burn out.

Hi guys, that tranny was to expensive. Guy wanted $1000 for it! Claimed it was from a 67 GTX and was the orginal. I have to look at any used tranny as a core. Unless I know who built it, what kind of power it was behind, what's inside. I would never go through the trouble of installing a used tranny only to find out somethings wrong and have to pull it and rebuild it anyway. Thanks for the input.

Lmao!!! $1k for a 727 trans core? That guy was smoking crack. You'll find one out there, plenty available. You can pick up a Super Street Rebuilt 727 from CRT for $1095...

I bought 727 cores for $30 to 50. Still have a bunch of parts. You got to know what 727 parts combination goes with the application.
