I’m trying to install the mopar electronic conversion kit in my ‘70 Belvedere. It has points and a 2 wire voltage regulator. Does the Vr stay? If not, what happens to the green and blue wire that plugs into it?

VR stays.
Ignition Control Module will be the additional piece (pictured on box).

I fought that style upgrade for weeks before I endedTaking it back for an HEI style. 50 bucks cheaper and much better performance. Cleans up the engine bay too since it was all in one I was able to pop the old module off the firewall and relocated the coil to be more hidden

How about the old ballast resistor. Is it replaced by the new one?

use the new one that came with the kit

make sure the ECU is well grounded, take some sand paper and scap some paint off the back of the ECU wear the bolt holes are and were ever you mount the ECU on the car to get a good ground

Thanks guys. It fired off without a hitch and runs nicely. I hope the performance curve is better than the stock distributor!

One thing we need to learn:

IGNITION system is one stuff, CHARGING system is another diff stuff

the only link between them is the ign switch source from blue wire on harness.

Then aside this, when upgrading from points to elec ignition is recomended ( when is not present ) upgrade from mech to elect regulator system whichever you choose, stock later reg system ( which also require add the second wire field on alt and mod or change the alt ) or aftermarket elect reg old look box ( to keep the existant alt and wiring from earliers setup ).

this is not to the OP, but for general knowledgement.

quite interesanting pic of this Mopar ign system being still Mopar branded! I though MP had discontinued completelly the system upgrade and these boxes with the black plastic insert were somehow a generic replacement being offered as a MP replacement option by any dealer around! I didn't know what it was the kit box presentantion

What I find also interesting, not anymore MOPAR PERFORMANCE branded, but just Mopar

That looks to be a Proform Ignition kit licensed by Mopar. Out of curiosity I downloaded the 2018 MP catalog and there is nothing for older cars. No big block, small block, 2.2 turbo, etc. All sections are for the newer generation of cars.

All 100% Chinese components we've set up and upgraded hundreds of them, the ECU retards the timing 8* (some more) starting at 3200 and by 5200 they fall off to unacceptable output levels. Ballast resisters burn up, most have Aluminum contact caps, poor fitting wiring harness, wrong springs and way too much mechanical timing
They have zero warranty (wonder why?)
The issues with all these Chinese distributors are numerous and vary between manufacturers and are too numerous to list. Just when we think we have them figured out something else pops up, it's a battle to keep ahead of them.
There WAS a Taiwan manufacturing facility under the RichPorter Brand name that was actually owned by Bosch that made a very good distributor with a couple of quirks that were easily fixed, they were bought by Spectra last year and the design was totally changed and they are probably the worst unit out there, price stayed the same, quality was dropped to ZERO. Stock rotors won't fit on the shaft, vacuum cans are Non-Adjustable but the can has the hex so they should be the adjustable type (deceitful marketing), box says "Made in USA", label on unit shows Made in Taiwan..... more deceitful marketing, the list goes on and on IMO they should be avoided. Worst quality in the industry.
There's also WPI, Proform and others that have assembly and component issues some can be modified to work pretty good other have defects that just can't be repaired. Just be careful of what your buying and don't fall for generic terms like "Performance Curve" "Race Distributor" "50,000V System" they are misleading and mostly false statements created by the marketing departments to prey on your lack of knowledge and inability to actually test their ridiculous claims.

This industry is plagued by untruths, brand brainwashing and false claims so "buyer beware", know who your dealing with. I would say the company with the best warranty has the best product, it has to be good or they'd go out of business fast offering a 5 year warranty, it's a dam good place to start anyhow.

I recently installed a 440 crate motor from Blueprint Engines, and I believe I have one of the distributors you are talking about. How do I identify it? There is no brand name, no part number, etc. Blue Print couldn't offer much help. I am not sure of the wiring. I'm told it is a "plug and play" distributor. I'm having trouble getting it to run right, and am getting suspious of that distributor. Any help would be appreciated!

Please take off the cap and give me a picture looking down inside it.
You can text to my main shop number

For what it’s worth, my car has never run better since the upgrade. Guess we’ll see how long it lasts. Glad I did it.
OP.

Here's the pic of the distributor. All testing and 3 mechanics pointed to the distributor as the problem. And we were right. Dropped in a Revco Distributor and she fired right up. We just didn't want to believe that a new engine built with top of line parts would have a defective distributor. BluePrint Engines really didn't have an answer as to why they put a $50 distributor on a $9000 engine. Live and learn!

Ok, So Revco Ignition? that has Google and I both baffled, what is it? Where did it come from? Is it mag trigger or Hall effect? Is it a self contained ready to Run or does it connect to a box?
Where did they set the initial timing? Where's the total timing? What RPM is it all coming in at? Where did they connect the vacuum line? Ported or constant?
