I recently purchased and installed some new, beefier torsion bars in my 66 Coronet. Got them from PST, and they're great! Stiffened up the ride for handling, but still a comfortable ride. I chose the 1.03".

FirmFeel is the only route for 73 and lates B Bodies. If you think on an upgrade, I wouldn't go bigger than 1" for a small block. I went with 1.06" from them having big block and I think 1" could have been enough LOL. Nothing wrong with 1.06"s on suspension rates but I set my car lower than stock ride height and the adjuster screw barelly threated in so it sticks out a lot and is lot visible underneath the car. I think when reassembling my car will index the LCA T bar socket on the next position ( aside I'll increase a bit the ride height )

Sure they are not cheap. MP use to sell these on $300 tops ( stock sizes ), but they are not available for 73 and lates Bs

Sway-Away has the 43.5" later b-body torsion bars. I am about to try a set on my 74.

Nice!!! new options! didn't know about them!!! Just that B bodies last long up to 79, not anymore LOL. 73/79 should be the correct period.

Not stock sizes thought! neither FF, but you can custom order. Also send to "rebuild" your stock ones

I ordered some Sway Away 1.03 and 1.08 as they were $100 cheaper/pair. The 1.03” are replacing some 1.14” from an unknown source from the late 90’s but are back ordered. The 1.08” arrived and are powder coated red and measure the correct length. They should get installed this month but an alignment may delay a test drive as other front end parts are also backordered.
If the OP wants factory bars, I’m removing the bars from a 73 with a 400 engine and 55k original miles to install the 1.08” bars.

Thanks for the info guys! I'm going to try to stay as close to stock as possible for this 340 car. One of my original torsion bars is broke so that's why I'm shopping for new ones.

Recommend using stock torsion bars from a 75-79 b body (Cordoba, Magnum...) Torsions bars will fit your 73. Estimate the bars are .125 or larger than your existing units

I can't recall anybody selling stock sizes for 73 and lates. I think they should be 0.92" ? BB are 0.96" I think.

FirmFeel gets custom orders, but, the price...

When I got mines maybe 13 years ago they were WAY cheaper

Really? as far I know they are the same lenght... but I can't proove it.

Unless you crawl under the car with calipers the only way you could tell they aren’t the stock size is ride, there is a reason they only make larger, stiffer bars than the original sizes.

For my 63 i got 0.94 from Classic Industries, and along with a rebuilt steering box from Red Head, the ride and stability are transformed. Original are 41"x 0.88, and I wouldn't go stiffer than .94-96. Just my taste I suppose. FF are great, but take 8 weeks, and bars are more expensive.
