Need Some Guidance HELP!!!!!!

What you see is a 69 RT/SE with matching numbers. I have stripped the car and purchased a 69 Coronet 4dr to use as a donor car. I need some help figuring out where to start. My frame rails are gone as you can see. I am very unexperienced at car restoration but I am very motivated to get this car on the road. Any advice would be very appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the site ................ouch that's a lot of work you have there the best thing I could say right is to search some of the past builds and read them thru you'll find a lot of info about your long journey with yours ,have you ever done anything like what you are about start ,if not there's a lot of people that will help you out make sure when you take it about your taking lots of photos ,notes and bagging and tagging your parts ,this is not going to happen over night ,I`ll see what I can find and send you a pm :homework:

You got your work cut out for you. I will suggest that if you can, take your floor out from the donor car in one piece. I see that someone also cut the radiator support off plus a little bit of the frame end. Anything that you are going to use from the donor car, measure what you are going to replace on your charger, then go back and measure again. If it will help you, make a diagram to write down measurements so you have something to reference. Good luck on your car. they're good looking cars when done.
 
And take lots of pics of BOTH cars before you tear them apart for reference.
 
Jim,what are your capabilities?? Can you fabricate & weld??Lucky for you almost all the parts for your car are available and you have lotsa work ahead of you! Good luck.
 
Don't look at the whole project because that can get overwhelming fast. The first step is to make sure that what you have is square. Take lots of measurements. There is a pic in my thread for a 69 Plymouth frame measurements. Dodges are different but the cross measurements are the same. Use a plumb bob on the frame and take measurements to the ground. Document everything then start small. Start with the frame rails and get them repaired. Don't focus on anything else. Once that's done, move on something else. One piece at a time and before you know it you'll have a new car.

I would agree with everyone here with it all, There is no way you can take to many pictures and measurements from every angle possible, one thing 61 said stands out good also, don't look at the whole picture as it can be overwhelming, start on one point and move on from there.. Here is one diagram from one of the projects that you may find useful, i would also suggest also reading over a few projects to give you an idea where your heading.. Good luck, it will be a cool ride when done!

Now that the formalities are out of the way.......lets get started. First off can you post more pics of the nooks and crannies, why..... because from the amount of rust I see the shell will need to come apart to the point where you will need to weld in X bracing in numerous places. Your inner rockers look shot so you will need to fab those up as I did with my passenger side and you will need to fab the back of the rockers inside and out and your outer rockers don't look good either. More pics of the trunk area as well, inside and out. To sand blast the shell you will need to get it down to where you can get access to all the nooks and crannies other wise you will need to think about having the shell dipped. Go look at my project "Carpenter's Special" and you'll get where I am coming from and definitely check out member Propwash and his project "Family Tradition" which he just recently completed and you will see his wonderful journey and check out Donny's projects as well ( he is a professional sand blaster ).You need to look at this project as a whole so you can assess what direction to start going in and then you can start breaking down the job tasks. I don't want to sound negative but you have a lot of work ahead of you so start asking away.

Wow, thanks for all the advice. I have limited welding experience. I do have a lincoln 256 mig. I am thankful superfreak that you said to brace the car. I have had several people say not to worry about it. I am in the process of building a car stand to get the axle out so I can get under the rear of the car. I am thinking I need to replace the rear of the car, trunk floor, rear frame rails, rear quarters, etc.. I think getting this car structurally sound would be a good place to start. what do you guys think? Jim

Can you guys tell me what teh original color of my car was. I have been told B5 or B3 Blue. It had a black soft top but the RT stripe looks White? not sure my 4 yr old was wanting to help daddy so she started sanding one day and under the primer looks white. Any ideas
