New Addition to My Things I Thought I would Never See List

He is smart...
Dumping a run-of-the -mill FIAT based Ferrari 308 for a MOPAR.

In exc cond with around 50k mi the asking price seems to be around $22-$25k for these.

I just remember when they were new and one of the most expensive cars on the market, and at that time a 68 Mopar could be had for a couple hundred bucks. :)

Yeah, funny huh?
And I sold my 1970 SE/RT "Go-Mango" 440 Challenger for $3,500 to buy a house in 1983.
I thought Ferraris' were the BIG THING then and the common belief was: "It's 1982, we cam ALWAYS buy a Hemi car OR..."

I raced a guy in one of those back in the late 1980s up in Columbia, MD. I had a 73 Road Runner with a 440 putting out just over 500 HP, and I took him through two lights on Broken Land Parkway and another on RT 29. We pulled off before the RT 40 exit, and I got a chance to look his car over. It was nice. He told me that while I could kick his *** in the straightaway, if we were on winding roads he would be doing the *** kicking. I told him you paid $100,000 for your car, I paid $2,500 for my car and engine. Give me one tenth what you paid for your 308 and I'll have my road runner set up to where I'll kick your *** in the turns too. :)

Yeah,
"One" has to enjoy the "Ferrari Experience" to want to own one.
Now, that being said, the NEW models are unique.
The 308 was kind-of MASS produced. All were 8 Cyl I believe? Correct me if I'm wrong.
They do not hold their value.
Good cars? I can not say.
My 1970 SE/RT is worht more today (Sigh, I dont have it anymore)

And your 73 Roadrunner had no problem beating it.
American Muscle is the BEST Muscle...PERIOD!

Every once in a while I see a Ferrari at an open car show around here. I don't pay much attention to the Ferrari because of the girls in their bikinis.:love4:

want-to-bee's players car

some years of 308's, Dino's or GT's are just "Short man mentality cars", you know the low life guys who have multiple chains around their necks, shirts open down to their belly buttons, &/or want-to-bee players usually third world people too boot...LOL... In all seriousness, they are cheap now, they don't hold or have the value from the other Ferrari Cars or owners, they're just a higher priced used Italian car now, the cost & time for tune ups, brakes, tuning, valve timing, parts, tires, etc. along with regular maintenance is so damn expensive & time consuming on them, they sell for just what the maintenance costs would usually be now, if you can't afford a $10,000 maintenance bill every 40k miles or so {or less}, they aren't a good car for you... Personally, I think the guy trying to trade, "is really smart"...LOL..

its about equal value these days.. Not something I would trade for though

Well... I beat him, but that Road Runner sure wasn't stock. :)

Certainly not, with 500HP.
IF...it's a big IF I was to buy "one of those cars" in the 80s, it might have been a Countach by Lamborghini.
Or, if I was smart, a 70 Hemi superbird...LOL!

Ive never experienced the Ferrari but i do know i wouldn't want to trade any Mopar he wants for it. Never cared for the looks of them alone, probably one of few but don't do nothing for me..

The 308 is the only Ferrari I ever liked. I would be interested in getting one except for the ridiculous servicing requirements. Seems like every task starts with "Step 1, remove engine".

yep...LOL..

It's still one of the better looking Ferraris out there.

I agree it's, one of my favorite looking prancing horses, no doubt because of Magnum PI, but I like the Ferrari 66 GTO or 69 Daytona &/or Cailfornia Spider a little better thou... They are in the million's $$ ranges now too
