New Corvette

If I didn’t go through my sports car phase already, I’d be interested. I’m happy with my bulky, heavy and roomy Hellcat.

So what is Dodge working on behind the scenes ?

Other then bulky heavy roomy HellCats

True story. I had a 2008Z06. Stupid fast car. Lightest corvette ever made with 427 engine.
Was always just so so on the car itself.
One day I was at a coffee shop. Lady pulls in next to me and says "thats some mid life crisis you have going on there"

Sold it soon after.

I hope I live to be a 130 years old. :D

Talked with a C8 owner. He paid $135 ADM for it. No way.

Not a huge Vette fan, but I like the looks of the new ones. The orange paint is beautiful

I abhor the Transformers design scheme that Chevy has held onto for WAY too many years....

Additional Dealer Markup. Some manufacturers never put up with that bs from dealerships selling their new cars.

Might have to go with a low mileage Ferrari 308 model instead of a C8 and use the money saved to buy a Challenger Scat Pack Shaker. :p
:D

I cannot say I am a fan of the C8 and will in all probability ever own one but I do respect the engineering that went into and am happy that GM came out with it. I would hate to work on one however.

:blah::blah:Z06...
:blah::blah::blah:
I'll bet it will NEVER sound this good:

I drove my Charger through a small Corvette gathering one early Saturday morning. On the end of the parking lot was a muffler shop. I was going to see about setting an appointment for some work the following week. I idled through sounding a lot like you....I actually did hear one guy say to another in a despondent voice....We'll never sound as good as one of those, will we ?

It's strange and in a way "disappointing" but I find almost no new muscle cars sound good, especially with the throttle opened up. Mustangs for years, since the "Fox Body" are the worst, but I believe much of it can be blamed on the catalytic converter(s). Until the cats come out, there's no way they'll ever compare.
I have no idea what it takes to do a cat eliminate with computer controlled engine management. That would throw off some key sensor(s) I believe.

Eh, simple enough - there's an O2 sensor before and after the cat.
The one after the cat is the one to be concerned with if you remove the cat - and all it does is monitor that
there IS a cat existing and that it's working.
They actually make "O2 sensor emulators" that you can plug into the 2nd sensor position after removing
the cat that will tell the ECU all is well. :)

I'd a flipped her off and done a hole shot!

I remember (obviously this is one of "those" indelible memories) way back in 1978, at 16, seeing a late 60s Corvette w/a 396 and "bass boat" glitter paint job for sale. I had my 71 Charger R/T at the time. I pulled into a gas station and saw the burned out remnants of that same Corvette. I inquired "What happened?" and the guy said a fuel line came off and it caught fire. The burned and melted fiberglass was a mess.
I replied "You should have bought a Mopar" and did a powerbrake burnout as I left the gas station...
Kinda harsh in retrospect, but hey, I was a steadfast "Mopar or No Car" 16 year old...

I have owned a few Vetes decades ago. Even did a total resto on a was it 68 or 9 427 4 bbl example gel coat and all. 86 was the newest.
I hated that people saw me in a Vette and thought "midlife crisis"!! Only good thing about them is they take corners like on rails.
I went to Bloomington Vette deal once, I was around the hard core guys I guess. I know the Corvette guys hate them being called Vettes, sounds too much like Chevette! I just did not fit in. Never had another. They were really just something to flip anyway.
The C4 and C5s are really cheap fun cars IF you find a good one. For corners that is!
