New Corvette

those are the design/engineering team members

That's one of the nice things about living near the headquarters of the Big 3, you see everything running around.

The 82 Collector Edition Corvette I bought from my dad was the first year they built them at Bowling Green Ky.
I would think having a single factory for a high end model, like the Viper had too, is the way to go.

That '82 may have been built during the first year of Bowling Green's opening, but it produced 1981 models for two months starting June 1 1981. Although it is the only factory for the Corvette, GM's proving grounds are in Michigan.

Bowling Green was previously a Chrysler plant, building air conditioning units. I wonder if there are any traces of Chrysler in that building?

Interesting that they would invest the time to tool up for a body that had one year left in it's life-cycle.

Build a strong 302 and that pinto-ish mustang II can fly.

Find a fastback with T tops and they don't look bad, either.

...and they can handle- rack and pinion steering how many years before the corvette got it?

Only Vette style that I might actually admit, with a lot of beer consumed, I actually kinda liked. Even that one I kicked the F out of my garage after 26 years and the wife wasn't too sad to see her 10th Anniversary gift car go either... just sayin.

We bought a '17 Z51 for my wife in March of '18. It's an awesome car. Great ride, incredible handling, and very well made. The paint quality could be better, but they upgraded the paint shop at the plant after ours was made. With 460hp on summer tires, it's a handful on cold tires. I like it so much that I have considered trading my Scat Pack for one of my own. Then I drive the Scat Pack and realize that a paid off Challenger is probably better than a second Corvette payment

The HUD is a very nice feature. Especially with the 7 speed manual as it also shows what gear you are in.

We paid 52 on a 69k sticker price. So, if I had paid MSRP, depreciation would have been a serious hit. However, between dealer discounts, rebates, and bonus cash, I felt the first year's depreciation had been accounted for by the discounts. A year later, the same dealer had a used one exactly like ours except interior color on their lot for $54k.

As for the C8. I doubt we'll get one. But, except for the rear, they're very, very nice. I really like that the C7 cargo area is only 1 cubic. ft. smaller than the Challenger's trunk. I'm not sure of the utility of the cargo compartments in the C8 since there's one in the front and one in the rear.

The media makes such a big deal about the C8 being mid-engine but the writers forget that the C7 is a front mid-engine. The C8 is rear mid-engine. Honestly, I prefer the look of a close-coupled front-engine coupe. But the C8 is a solid design.

Exactly the reason I don't ride anymore, too much distraction behind the wheel nowadays.

I bought a 77 Cobra new. It was in the shop more than on the road.
The engine sounded like a coffee can full of rocks. The dealer wanted Nothing to do with it until I hit 12 k miles. Then they said they would look at it. I handed them the extended warranty card and suddenly they were booked up.
Took it to another dealer and they said it was a wonder it still ran.
Bearings were wrong. Lifters were wrong. They did a complete rebuild along with balance and all sorts of goodies. Cost me $25.
It ran pretty good. The rest of the car was a POS.
