New guy restoring a 1978 CHP Dodge Monaco 440...

Man, that's beautiful. Thanks for the post, and pics... welcome to FBBO! i will just say this, having restored a '78 Plymouth Gran Fury (former NY State cruiser that was assigned to the Schoharie barracks) take a good, close look at the K-frame bushings. On a police model, there are 2 per side, not one, and they're not easy to find. However, if you scour a sufficient number of dealerships that have been around long enough, you may be able to find certain parts like this. i found mine at a dealership in Alabama that just happened to have a pair socked away... NEVER turn down a contact!

Thanks I remember guys talking about this upcoming issue while down in Carlisle. I can't wait to check it out, thanks for the reminder.

Back from the Mopar Nationals in Ohio and I have all the parts needed for the car..well cept for a new rear deck lid but thats a want not a need. Murray Park had the door latch I needed along with the small piece of trim that runs along the passenger side sail. A buddy also found me 5 police 15x7 wheels, blasted and painted along with 4 really nice police hubcaps. Other good restoration news I was able to contact one of the guys who helped build this into a City of Sacramento car and he was able to fill in a lot of blanks for me. Good stuff...still no idea what color or dept I will be representing yet but I am thinking about it. One cool trivia thing he told me was the pushbar and cage were made by prisoners in Folsom Prison.
