My first car ever was a 1972 Plymouth Road runner 440 police interceptor motor with a 727 Automatic, dana 60 rear. I bought the car back in the day for 200.00 cash and it ran, sort of the trans was leaking like crazy. But as long as I poured in a quart about every 10 miles I could get to school in it. The car was only 4 years old then and how I survived high school I look back now and think it was a miracle. Eventually got the trans fixed and it ran real good. I finally graduated and had to move on to a more economical means of transportation. Flash forward 30 plus years and a customer of mine says he wants to liquidate his car collection. I ask what he has and went to take a look. As we approach the garage and see its a big garage 3 double car garage doors and deep enough to park it 3 cars deep. We chatted a bit and he said ill tell you want how about I sell you the Plymouth GTX convertible. I could not believe how nice this car was looked almost show room new and ready to go.. He says I bought it from Barrett Jackson in about 02. I asked how much he thought it was worth and he says well you know probably about 60k and then I have to pay the consignment guy. I said well you know me and if I brought a car home to my wife and said honey guess what I spent today, it had better have a bed, shower, toilet and a place to make food, cause I am going to be living in it. He tells me well I ut at least 10k in to it more since I bought and I really want to get investment back. I asked him to figure a fair number I could live with and he shot me a number 49k, and my jaw dropped but still its just more than I can do. He said for you I am going to make you a deal for all the years of working on stuff for him, 45k but decide quick before I change my mind. I bought it that day... So now I am on this sight for news information etc.. Oh the car its a 1968 Plymouth GTX Convertible 440 factory 4 speed number match original color blue with white interior with a Dana 60 posi unit in the rear. I have the original magnum 500 wheels set aside and installed US mags on it 15X7 up front and 15X8 out back 235X60 fronts and 275X60 rear. Its probably a 9 out of 10 for condition. My back ground was to turn wrenches starting at about 16 and have rebuilt several cars over the years but this is my first return to my roots and do a Mopar...

Great looking car and welcome. Back in the 80's I has a 68 GTX convertible with a 440 and 4 spd. Mine was originally triple black but not in very nice shape. However, I only paid $2200.00 for it.

What size tires and rims? I found some US Mags (slots) for my 68 RR from Summit and plan to go with 15x7 front and 15x8 rear. Tires maybe 235 or 245-60 front and 255-60 rear.

I'm located in the SF Bay Area so likely run into you at a show some time.

Welcome aboard! I love the color combo and just that it is a convert is great. Enjoy!

Welcome aboard and that's one sweet GTX! :icon_pray:

I had an Alpine white '69 back in the day and she was one of my favorite cars ..., wish I still had her. :sad1:
