This 65 Satellite has been in the barn for 15 - 20 years when I purchased it and was covered with pigeon poop. That's why we are calling it "project pigeon poop". This is a project I'm working on with my son-in-law. We just finished sand blasting and will send more pictures as work progresses.

Nice. I just joined after recently buying a 65 belvedere. Looks like we're at about the same spot in our respective restos(see my thread entitled "new members cheapo 65 belvedere" in this section. Everyone here is very nice and really helpful. So, from a fellow new guy.....welcome! Please let us all know what your plans for the car are!

congrats to both of you on your projects ,nice and clean looking keep us updated on your project ,have fun :headbang:

the 65 satelitte is going to be a 383, it has bucket seats but no floor console, so i may make it a colum shift automatic if i cant find a floor console cheap enough. we are also putting a hood scoop on. thats probably the biggest change we are making to it

You can call me pigeon, or you can call me poop. But ya doesn't have to call me P.P.

Thank you, Mr. Raymond J. Johnson Jr.

Welcome aboard! great project for you.. Looking forward to the updates..

Hello all. Figured Id bring this thread up to date some. Im the son in law working on the car with Ron. It went into paint Saturday and came out quite nice. Time for slow re-assembly.

We started late August as you saw and paint 2 months later. Not too bad. nice straight car to start with though.

Nice Job Ironside you guys are quick to start and you will have lots enjoyment with this satillite project.

Wow nice job,is the colour medum red metalic, the factory colour

Thanks for the responses.

The color is actually a custom R&M color. We wanted to originally do the newer ford red kandy, but its a tri color approach and cost almost $350 a quart. The R&M Diamont isn't cheap but doing everything I went through 6 qts and two gallons of clear. The color is kind of a dark maroon/bergundy. It has a ton of pearl in it. Depending on how the sun hits it it can be three different colors. Quite a pain to spray, especially for a novice-me.

The booth we rented. It was $100 for the weekend heated and all so a good deal.

I wet sanded a portion of the deck lid so Ron could put the letters back on and it's coming out awesome. We were going to wait to do the whole thing til spring but I'm going to start next week, just don't want to wait that long. Haha

Thanks
Andre
