Looks like the front trim is in fairly good shape. That's a big bonus.

TX9 Tuxedo Black 1966 Charger, congrats
& good luck

what's the plan ?
an OE style resto ?
or a mild custom/day 2 car ?
or full on, performance build ?

since it doesn't have the matching #'s engine,
skies the limit, big block 383 or 440, Hemi is pricey

(I would personally keep it the org. TX9 Tuxedo Black, if it was mine,
the rest is personal choice, I'd do a Big Block, with a nice free flowing exhaust system
alum. good intake & nice performance carb (Holley), some nice wider wheels & tires,
some good disc brakes (upgrade if need be), go fully thru all the electrical to start,
especially the 'firewall bulkhead connectors/cleaned or replaced' (problems on these old cars),
under-dash wiring, for safety 1st, hopefully it was NOT invaded by mice/other pests
)

have fun that's the best plan,
build it how you want it

safety stuff 1st, is a great idea,
just plan ahead, you don't need to buy stuff twice,
make an outline or a plan & stick to it

Budget, you personal skill level & tools, usually dictates what type of project

welcome to FBBO from NorCal Sierras

Welcome from Alabama, looks like a good start as far as a project goes. What skills do you have? Mechanical, body work, upholstery? Tools? Here is hoping you don't have to hire it all done!

I’ve helped my dad work on cars since I was little. Absolutely have the drive to do it just afraid I’m biting off more than I can chew!!

I may be able to get the original motor but REALLY want her to be super loud and proud. I want to drive her daily.

Nice project Charger. Get ready to frequently use your current vocabulary of cuss words, and invent several more new ones.
Yeah, I started cleaning her out some today and I’m sure my neighbors are going to love this!

Nice car. Skys the limit since it does not have a motor. Does it have a transmission? I would pull the seats and carpet as well as trunk liner to figure what metal repair needs to be done. Do all metal repair and primer and seal the undercarriage. Then move on to the suspension and chassis. Good luck.

Welcome from the motor city. Very cool ride to play with. You peaked my curiosity when you said you may have a line on the original motor. Which motor is it? May be worth pursuing, or at least duplication for an easy install. Good luck with your build! Big plus being pretty complete. The most satisfying way is to get her running and driving as soon as possible. Too many people blow them apart planning on a ground up resto and never get them put back together.

So I finally cleaned the windows today, the seats are going to have to be replaced. So far only bad rust is on the inside of the top of the trunk.

Wow, thats in great shape. AC car too. Im not an expert on this year Charger, but if there was a rallye gauge option for this year it looks you got that. How many miles on the odometer. Rust on trunk, LOL, that’s not rust, that’s pantina. Check out what a member here did with a car similar to yours in condition.

Welcome from PA!

You have a neat car, but understand the work and cost to do a full restoration is significant. I would suggest to start with getting an engine and getting the car running and driving. That way, you can enjoy the car a bit before you decide what level of restoration you want to do.

Good luck!
