Hi All-

My name is James. I own a 1972 charger SE, 400 big block. Bought it running but it was a rust bucket. Been through a lot of crap with giving it to the wrong people to do the work and money down the drain (I'm sure this isn't anything new). Finally made it out of the dark after buying a parts car and giving it to good people. And my car just went in to get painted.

Had a few questions and looking for recommendations:

Looking to buy Cragar 61 series rims and put 7-8" wide on front and 9" on rear. Sifting through info that isn't on forums is always murky, can anyone point me in the right direction to make sure I can get the right fit? I have the original brake system on the car and I am open to changing that if it helps (ie rotors calipers etc).

Is there anywhere to find a good repair manual for standard repairs on this type of car?

Thanks in advance for the help!
James

:welcome: aboard James! Have you tried eBay for the manuals?

Any pictures?

As for the Cragars..I'm going with the 61 series as well on my 74 Charger. Going with 15"x7" on front and 15"x8" on rear. I will most likely go with Summit Racing, if there's a problem they are super to deal with. Welcome to the addiction friend, glad to have you!!

Thanks for the info!

Below are the photos just before it went in for paint.

Welcome to the site ,don't know how I missed this ,anyways sweet charger I have a 72 also mine is going to paint soon Too. Any more pictures? What color are you painting it? What eng and so on .

Welcome. Got any pics of what it looked like when you started. I always love to see how far a car gets transformed

215's seem skimpy for the front of a '71/'72 Charger to me. I'm running 255's on my '71 and they fit just fine with no rubbing.

welcome to FBBO

good luck with the 72

255_60_15.jpg255/60-15 on the front of my '71 after about 12 years of use. I was in for new tires as the age of the rubber was getting a bit scary.

Over the weekend I was messing around with wheels tested some 7" cragar rims on the front and 10"'s on the back. The 10s work and they look mean. Finding the right tire for that is becoming a pain (ideally I want BF Goodrich). Here are some pictures.car8.jpgcar7.jpgcar6.jpgca5.jpg

May I ask what size tires do you have on them Cragars? Especially the 15x10's. Can you keep them from touching the fenders, look to be limited clearance? Yes, go with the BF Goody tires...I use them on all my
ole' Mopars.....they just seem right.... my opinion though!! Best of Luck friend!!

I am going with 275/60/15. I need to put some serious weight in to be sure I can use them. If not I'll go with the 8"

Welcome to the site. I'm a new member as well with a '72 Charger Rallye. I had a tough time selecting wheels and tires. I finally went with Foose Nitrous 17X7 on the front and 17X11 on the rear. Tires are BFG G Force Comp Sport 2, 245/45/17 up front and 275/40/17 on the rear (mini-tubs).
