LOL. you are correct. i mis-typed. I just realized my insurance company is incorrectly listing it as a 1979.lol it is in fact a 1978. even they don't know what it is.lol

my wife calls it the Mona-carlo.

You are right that very few people know what they are. when you mention the Monaco, people envision the c bodies and 4 doors. Between the Monte and Grand Prix get lots of co0ments.

Haha ya. Some Laguna mixed in there. Well if I can help let me know. I have acquired some knowledge and spare parts during my ownership. Some day soon mine will have a 5.7 hemi. And get a cheap paint job and hardtop conversion.

In a way it's a shame that these cars have little to no value.Great old Mopar for under $5000.When I got mine the thought was to clean it up, fix it up, put it up for sale,,and I did.Not one taker.I figured a asking price for a 79 300 with all the hi performance goodies Ma Mopar had to offer was a bargain at $6000.I have that much in it and would sale it for $4500.Nope no sale.You know what? They did me a favor because it is a GREAT car.Took it out for a run today.Smiles all the way !

I imagine they will one day. Kinda like the G body gm cars. I have even watched the 73 and up A body mopars climb since I got my dart. Its just an odd era of cars that were not ever thought of as muscle cars. They had under 200hp. Weighed more than their predecessors due to govt crash test requirements. Then chrysler took its already terrible electron ignition and added lean burn... and dare I mention the low production numbers, paired with rust prone metal...there arent that many left to appreciate. This is an instance of rare just being rare...not much value unfortunately.

BUT. This means its a cheap way to get into the hobby, and lots of parts cars hiding behind sheds for us to find. Glad I picked it up. Cheap and mopar usually dont go together.

I always tell people. If my dart was a camaro, it would run 8's....not 10's.

Thanks Guys. You are correct. It was an inexpensive way to get in. I am just having fun with the car. Although probably already have too much money into it. I do plan on keeping it. So not a big deal. Here in Michigan it is still in storage, Wish I could take it out for a ride, but would needs skis on it. !! LOL At least a couple more months.

I am needing to take the lower interior door panels off and have them painted. . It his hard plastic and they are faded and discolored. I have not had a lot of experience taking interior parts apart. Other than the few screws along the armrest is there anything else to worry about ?

I noticed on a earlier post you were asking about he back windows. MY 77 Monaco is a hard top. It as the full trim but windows do not open. They are fixed.

Maybe the door handles also. And 2 ish screws. Then the rest are spring clips. Just tug and the panel pops off.

I just tried messing around on there, and i don't know how to really tell what i'm looking at...lol
