I got a new present for my car: a Holley 1000 cfm hp carb. This carb will replace my Holley 850 double pumper. So I’ve noticed that the hp carbs don’t have the large vacuum port in the back for the PCV. What are my options here? Can I run a breather instead of the PCV?

I drilled and taped the Indy manifold for a vacuum port nipple.
On my old M1 intake it was lower, so I bought a 1" carb spacer that was already drilled and tapped for the vacuum port.
The spacer works out nice if you have the hood clearance.

You need a PCV for the street. May have to tap into the intake
I'm currently running a performer RPM. It does already have a vacuum port tapped but my power brakes go to that. Could I get a different style vacuum fitting and run both off of it?

Check your vacuum pressure at the manifold. As long as you have over 7psi, you should be ok. 9psi would be ideal.

Cool, thanks. This is a possibility since hood clearance isn't an issue for me. I have a 6-pack hood. :D

Should be able to split it and run both from the one port unless you have low manifold vacuum. Do you know how much vacuum you have at idle?

ok ok, I'll get you some pics when I get home today. :D
Ok, here’s the pics. Current set up and new toy.

Check the idle speed and vac. in and out of gear with the engine warmed up to operating temperature *prior* to removing your old carburetor. This will give you a baseline for the new unit. Also make sure to pull the carb after a few head cycles and double check the base plate to main body screws. Enjoy!
