New Radio Station

Gone are the days when late night Friday and Saturday we could pick up some great stations like WLS and a Boston station and others on the car radio when out riding around. We'd spend late nights listening to some great music then (60's). ruffcut

That’s part of the thing with me is old radio memories in my youth; hear an old tune that I haven’t heard in eons and memories of where I was back then pop in my head, cars I had, gals I dated, hot summer nights at the drive-in’s, the days swimming at the lake, the occasional late night drag races out on our country roads…etc. The drive-in's are long gone, the roads we raced on are now surrounded by subdivisions, stores and industrial parks...a fast few years in life to remember.

I can't listen to boom boom ****, the neighbor's kids
listen to that **** with the bass all distorted all the time,
I keep telling them, to turn the damn bass down
it will sound better, shitty speakers all blown out by bass
they think it's cool
We get along fine & they usually turn it down too

I don't care they listen to it, just fix the tone/bass,
you're only young once & music is a big part of youth

most of the time they are respectful
their dad & mom sees to that, good people
their dad/mom is 20 years younger than me too

I'm not a fan of most contemporary music today
it just sucks or Pop/bubble gum, young girls cRap

I just have to laugh
I'm sure the elders when I was a kid
listening to
Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, Kiss, Molly Hatchet, Lynard Skynard,
Van Halen, AC/DC, Judas Preist, Clapton, Journey, Frampton
or Motown I loved Motown still do
or even the Beach Boys or Jan & Dean etc.
They all probably said the same ****, about me & my loud music
(or my loud cars)
but I had it in tune, not all bass or all treble mix,
& always with good speakers...
Not some stock Japcrap/Domestic crap blown-out junk speakers,
from all that bass

I won't & don't listen to cRap music
it's not music it's anti-cop or pro gang, derogatory
cRap & racial indoctrination
Albeit;
when I was racing my 23 or 27 altered/s they'd play
Tone Loc version of Wild Thing, when I came to the burnout box

I listen to sort of Classic Rock. 104.1 KHKK the Hawk
out of Modesto, plays decent 70-80's even some 90's rock

I'm a product of the 70's HS era,
class of 77' baby, I like music with heart & a beat
a good guitar riff or drums etc.

I also like surf music, for a limited time

I like a lot of different music

or when I drive 95.1 KHOP out of the Oakdale area
or the Local Sonora KOSP country 92.9
Twain Harte Country station KTRV 93.7
sort of mix of CR & C&W
Stockton 93.5 KKBN C&W
plays a lot of 90's to contemporary C&W
switch back & forth when I'm driving usually
I like the golden oldies too, just can't do it
for more than an hr or 2
pretty much the same with any music

most all of them are on some sort of loop
may not be top 40, but a loop nonetheless
with a bit of commentary or 5 min.'s of news every so often

I don't listen to the radio often enough to get the loop deal

out in the garage I listen to the radio
for the 1st couple of hrs, usually Rock 104 'The Hawk'
before it gets too old, or I get bored too easily
then on to my old cassette or cd stash

Comcast/Xfinity cable has some good classic rock
& golden oldies or country too, several in each genre/era

My Dad's 64 Ford wagon we'd listen to WJJD in N.O from Chicago at night, that was cool!

Yeah I hear ya (pun intended). Don’t know what the deal is with the deep base. That’s all I can hear no other instruments or singing. My house is 400 yards from a highway and occasionally I can hear it – from the highway…and when it’s cold outside with windows up! Boom…boom…boom/boom……boom. I like all sorts of music from various decades; but hip-hop or rap…I’d rather drag my nails across a chalkboard. Well my hearing’s gone downhill from too many loud engines, music, and machines I operated…but wow…keep listening to that boom/boom **** and reckon those sorts might be deaf by 60.

Been using Spotify for awhile now. We get the family plan, love it. Only listen to AM radio now for sports or news.FM around here is pretty shitty now.

I basically have every record ever produced. Just imagining that I do but I have a boat load of CD's and Vinyl records as well as access to my Brother, Jon's (69a100) extensive collection so I just set up my own playlists in my phone so when I travel, I have some great music to listen to. I hardly ever tune in when driving locally here in Reno to any radio, And the subscriber offerings that newer vehicles have, I couldn't care less about. In fact we both jokingly say we have way more Blues than a paint store. And, we being from Chicago, home of the Blues, it just might be a fact. Speaking of Chicago, we both normally stream a few Radio.com stations from there. They are now know as Audacy Radio but the stations are the same. And there is a very good station out of Salt Lake City that we use also. Here are the links if you care to check them out...cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

Why donstations now have names? Do they think we can't remember three or four letters?

I know we can, look how many four letter words we know!

next door neighbor's oldest would pull up in front of their house and sit in his current POS and listen to the Thump Thump crap....wife and I went to school with his parents, so when the Mrs would call over and ask them to have him turn it down, no problem .One night he did this, and his parents weren't home. So I put ACDC Back in Black on the surround sound (summertime, windows open) and cranked it. Last time we ever heard the Thump Thump....did it a few time when at a red light and a Thumper pulled up behind me. Worked just as good.

It's funny how the airwaves work on AM. I remember one time in the early 80's cruising around on a summer night in southern Maine in my 68 Hemi Charger & I faintly picked up an AM radio station in Kansas.

got a transistor radio when I was about 9, found wolfman jack and I wore that radio out

Can't stand the FM classic rock stations around here. They play the one song that made the band and no more. How many times can you listen to ramblin man by the Allman bros or the same lynerd skynerd song?
Play something else they did
So there is adult FM station here that plays good new stuff and good old stuff WRNR 103.1 Annapolis
But I do have Sirius and love it from blues to bluegrass

Guys, there is a 50's style show called the Freddie Vette Show Monday to Friday 2:00-7:00 pm on the mighty 800 CJBQ (AM) or internet, Hosts | CJBQ 800 am. you'll think your back in 62
