I have one from about 3 years ago from Vans and it does work properly. I was a little skeptical at first, but it is on the money! In my 68 Roadrunner by the way.
Put one in my Charger read perfect till dash connector decide it was not going to be connected anymore.
Put one in my Challenger and even with bending the arm numerous times it still goes to empty with about 7-8 gallons left in the tank. Getting closer, but far from accurate OOTB.
I'm far from an expert but here is how I did my 65
Set the tank next to the car, Run a jumper and ground to the sender.
Turn on key, check gauge on empty. pull sender out and tape a 1/4 spacer under float. re- install sender , Check gauge, should be a hair above empty.
Remove spacer install sender and tank. I did not use the ground clip on the fuel line, I did a wire ground.
