NFL Is Here!!! Let The Smack Commence!

hell it's 1st day of NFL free agency.... why on earth would we talk about something like basketball, baseball or hockey ??

- - - Updated - - -

I am SO hoping(along with the other members of Raider Nation here) that the Silver and Black can pick some needed help-like at almost every position except kicker. All I get around here is Lions news;what a muddled and befuddled franchise. I feel(almost) sorry for Lions fans-though the number of those fans is diminishing. Does provide comic relief...

Al amen to the raiders getting some much needed great players...LOL...

- - - Updated - - -

Al, I'm with ya. Getting Raiders season tix again this year, it damn well better be a good season compared to last year. Let's go OAKLAND!

I'm 100% with ya there Pabster...

- - - Updated - - -

other than drag racing, Football is the only true sport to me...LOL... the rest just pale in comparison, not worthy to discuss he he ha he ha...

- - - Updated - - -

Al-K go Lions & go my mighty Oregon Ducks too... I worry for both those teams this coming year/season...

Good Lord Guys...Ya'll still talking about Football and Baseball is starting to get in full swing. Give it a rest will ya please or maybe change the topic to Hockey instead. But this Football hash and re-hash is getting mighty old..."FAST"!!! Just my 2 cents

No,no,no my friend. The "second season"-free agency and the Draft will be upon us soon! Need to start acclimating our brains for the upcoming frustration-depending on the team,of course.

Now,as far as Baseball-I love it. Been a Tigers fan since I was knee high to a Mopar, and I do virtually live and die with them. Have seen some DISMAL years and thoroughly enjoyed the recent ones. Other than than the disappointments in the World Series in '06 and last year-but hey,WE WERE THERE!!! NANANANANANA...

I think it's time to start a baseball thread.

Oh,the Yankees still suck...

Al-K I still do like baseball, when they aren't striking anyway & the Oakland A's have been my team for 40 years, butt IMHFO it still pales in comparison, to either Drag racing or Football still thou... not the same kind of love....

OK OK OK...I get it. The "Silly Season" when over testosterone "Roided" out men, try and accumulate as much wealth as they can before they cannot any more. Or Prison Time interferes with their playing time. I just lost any really supportive interest in the game any more. That being said, I am and will always be a Die Hard Bears Fan, Black Hawks, and Cubs fan. Living in Nor Cal, I gravitated to the 49er's, Giants, and Sharks. In fact I was an early Sharks fan when the League expanded. Most out here forget that a large part of the Sharks success was due to the Black Hawks giving up some key players in that expansion and what with me now living out here, I finally got my Hockey fix. But with Football, the pro circuit is just too Damn ridiculous to suit me. Yes I watch it. But I would rather watch the College side than the Pro side any day. Besides half the Pro Players I cannot even understand when the open their mouths. I failed E-Bonics for a reason. Now let's get back to BASEBALL!!!!:blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1:

cr8crshr & MLB baseball isn't full of "roided" players/felons money grabbers ??...LOL... after the money grab the last few years in NHL Hockey I lost total interest, pretty much the same thing with the MLB, I use to love going to Sharks games, I had seaason tickets to A's for about 25 years.. & yes I agree about NCAA College football is the best, but just the minors for the NFL nowadays, especially the SEC.... remember your posting on an NFL thread

Raiders news: The Raiders have released WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, DB Michael Huff and DE David Tollefson; and re-signed DB Phillip Adams.

Could NEVER figure out the Heyward-Bey draft choice;there were SO many other really good players out there that year and they took HIM? WTF? I'm sure the Lions have sent him an airline ticket for an interview.

Big Al loved him, he was track athlete fast & was a outstanding physical specimen, unfortunately that was a criteria for many years, As much as I totally respect Al Davis & what he's done in football, he was failing with his recent picks, especially the last decade or so... Now hopefully with Mark Davis & the new Management/GM, they will "hopefully" go on football talent, instead of physical prowess or some other reasoning...

Here we go: NFL begins caving to pressure, considers rule changes

Hey Al & Bud (and anyone else in Nor Cal who likes going to football games),

Just got my season tickets invoice for next year... they dropped the prices on seats. A LOT. 2 seats in the 3rd deck is going to cost $510 for the season. Last year my seats were around $800. I know our team ain't looking too good these days, but that figure seems like one of the best deals in the NFL. Just thought you guys should know. I know I'll be there!

I see the Lions picked up Reggie Bush, salary cap issues at the Dolphins I guess... I think he will be a good addition to the team, he's good ball handler, good runner, add more speed, even in the return game & is a great receiver out of the back field too....

for fellow other Raiders fans & for Al-k since you don't get our local news for Raiders transactions.... LB's Nick Roach, Kaluka Mauava, Jerrel Harris... D-line DE-Jason Hunter, DT-Pat Sims, NT-Johnny Jones... DB's Cote Francies, A.Owusu-Ansah... looks like they are really concentrating on bargin defensive players... Offensive player added so far FB John Hoese, Wr's Isaiah Williams, Travon Sessions & TE-Mike Shular, O-line T-Jason Slowey, G-Jason Foster, sorry If I butchered any of the names... I'm sure there are more still, Raiders have real salary cap problems, so we'll see if they pick up any real marque names in Free Agency, the draft is still to come & the #3 & #35 picks will be costly too, if they don't trade them for higher round considerations, or for even more picks... allot of vets to resign still too... Just Pick/Sign Baby

I saw that too, just to simplify what they are proposing is "no more head ducking by the running back, or ball carriers, into the defenders/tacklers, often causing helmet to helmet contact"... NFL football is becoming the "damn powder puff football pretty freaken soon" with all these new rules changes, or it will just be come flag football or a form of soccer... it's no longer the game I played for nearly 20 years, that's for damn sure, I was taught to put my helmet &/or face mask in the chest of the opposing player, drive him to the ground, as a OLB & DE I was also told to hit the damn QB, when ever freaken possible, whether he had the ball or not.... IMHFO The "straight arm, to the face", will be the next thing to go for offensive layers... One rule that I would really like to see soon is, "any blocks below the waste gone thou", causing way too many of the knee injuries, especially directed at D-Lineman or LB's... Believe me, I know they are all just trying to protect their investments, especially with the QB's... Also to cut down on injuries, especially the head injuries & concussions, but they are ruining a great 130 year old traditional game... Also I'm pretty sure, most all the players {at-least many players} will/would still play for that kind of money, beeing offered & take the high risks of injuries, even with the old set of rules, I'd still play with out pay if I could, I loved it that much & it's football, not freaken Soccer, Tennis, Softball, Baseball or Golf {& I love baseball & golf, but they aren't intended as a contact sport, like football is}, don't try to turn the game into something it will never be, way too much of this Touchy Feely, Kinder Gentler, Liberals PC type, Candy A$$ Crap.... ...wow I feel much better now...LOL...

No one seems to ever mention the Browns, lol, good reasoning behind that but i will! I hope they do good this year..

i will.....

"GO BROWNS"

i have been a Browns supporter since Bill Nelson was slinging the ball. they will do better than last year. with Pittspuke and Baltimore loosing players, you never know. they made some free agent picks that could (?) pan out very nicely, some risks. it still depends on the recievers catching the ball IF Weeden can get it past the defensive line!!

OK...the Draft-a National Holiday for some people and a day of mourning for others(depending on who your team selects) is coming up. Not a lot of sure-fire Pro Bowlers out there, but a lot of good projects with potential. A number of prognosticators are predicting that Da Raiders will select Eric Fisher, offensive(left) tackle from Central Michigan. Supposed to be a starter, could keep the QB healthy with his blocking ability, and has good leadership skills. The Raiders need SO much help in so many places, but this is a good start. I'm curious as to what changes Reggie McKenzie will bring to this organization-hopefully for the better! May this be one of them! I want to see the Silver-and-Black become relevant again!

I know I'm not a coach, they need to protect the QB & improve the running game, but I like that pick too... or OLB Jordan or ILB Alonzo from Oregon or a Defensive lineman from Alabama or Utah {their names elude me, at the moment}, also a really good defensive end would be really nice too, the Raiders needs so many spots filled.. it's extremely hard to say who or where they will actually pick, I'd like to see them trade the 1st round pick for 2-3 other higher round picks too, but they have been pretty active in free-agency, no marquee names really thou... I like Matt Flynn, he's from the GB system... they got rid of Shane Lechler thou, he was a great punter at least they still have Seabass... lets hope, McFadden & Jacoby Ford can stay healthy, Rod Streater looked pretty damn good toward the end of the year at WR too... hopefully some of the new TE's can fill that void too.... Go Raiders & Go Lions {unfortunately I haven't been keeping to good of tabs on them, this off season thou}

And yet, no matter what, the Lions will still suck. They will find NEW ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. They have broken my heart for all of my 48 years!
Therefore, I offer my allegiance, as a Detroiter, to the highest bidder! A wheel of cheese is all it would take to make me a Packers fan! My team has given me nothing but heartache, so why not pimp myself to a team that will give me something! At this point, even a rusty horseshoe would make me a Colts fan! I'm open to all offers, and I will gladly buy my own jersey to represent my new team! Be the first on your block to buy a disgruntled Lions fan!

Nice try, but that chick couldn't find Detroit on a map. We don't have cheerleaders, or hope either!
