Anyone use these NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs? They are $8 each but are they good or are the normal xr5's ok?

Never had a problem with the V's. The iridium is harder so supposedly will last longer and requires less voltage to spark. If you are running MSD the spark shouldn't be an issue anyway.

Well on this motor I only have about 3k miles on it. But had a 70 charger I got a good 30k hard miles out of them and were still running fine when I sold it.

Heres my take, the special coatings are only for longer life, but provide no protection from fouling. If you have a carb, instead of F.I., you will still foul a platinum plug. The platinum plugs are designed for F.I. motors, and have a lifespan of 100k miles for wear. End of the day...you would need a dyno to find the difference. They are about longevity, not about any boost in performance.
As I have have said in other posts before....If there is some "magic" plug, that would last forever, and give a 50% boost in mileage and horsepower, the manufacturers would be using them! They spend gazillions just trying to squeeze 1 mpg out a car. If that new, fancy plug would do it, they would be using it!!!

ok so I PUT IN A SET OF 5155 fr4 V POWER PLUGS AND NOW IT WONT START? ANY IDEAS?

Aside from having the wires firmly attached and proper gap I sincerely doubt it is the plugs. Of course you could put the old ones back in to verify.

now I am wondering if they are the right ones? the fr4's have the same size as the champions. but I think are resistor. what model number do you guys use?

Hey BMJ, I saw the pictures you posted of the headers and clearance issues, and it looks like your tubes could be extended up near the flange.

With Jegs and Summit selling pre-bent tubing in your size, it wouldn't take much to simply extend your pipes an extra inch or two and then you could run any plug you like.

Just a suggestion.

OK I m the dumbass.....my 6AL box connector came unplugged i guess while i was reaching like a pretzel under the headers to change a plug..it's was hidden in the wire loom and I guess stretched and came apart..stupid..anyway I ended up breaking 2 of the NGK's so since I was not sure about this model plug I decided to do more checking and found a cross reference sheet online...not the best web site it lags a bit while loading but has them all there goods info to have...I went with the direct cross for the champion rc12y plug which is the ngk bcpr5ey-n-11 fired her up and she runs good, now that I have done my research and will check for the different heat ranges..but so far so good they seem like a good plug.

What do you mean extended? are you referring to having them cut and re welded closer to the flange at the head? My problem is in order to take the headers out the engines has to come out too. which sux for me so I have resolved myself to waiting until I can afford some TTI headers http://www.ttiexhaust.com/Header-TTI383+440-178/BB178headers.htm

Right now the drivers side is touching the power steering box and on the passenger side it hits the shock tower and rubs a little when torqued lol

9.6:1 440source stealth heads no head work except push rod fit at the guide holes. 1.5 rocker set up 440source again.
