Anyone traveling on interstate Rt. #80 near Wharton must know by now of the multiple sinkholes that have opened in recent months. Currently shut down in both directions.
Now, today another sinkhole opened up on Rt. 287 near Rt. #80 as well. It seems that much of north Jersey was built over abandoned Iron mines. The traffic in these areas has been a nightmare for decades, especially during rush hours. I would hate to have to commute through these areas now like I did for many years 12 years ago. It is nothing short of a horror story. My heart goes out to all of the folks who have to commute anywhere near this area as it will be a mess for quite some time. Some people mentioned that recent earthquakes might have had something to do with it and I also heard stories about weeks of huge drones flying over over much of NJ several months back. This was on the news for weeks as well.

"It seems that much of north Jersey was built over abandoned Iron mines"......... We have the old lead mines down here in Missouri. Worked great till it didn't. It's a little like walking around your yard where a mole has been digging. Thanks for sharing!
