Found a complete cluster with a tachometer some time ago... tach is in need of some serious TLC - will restore the face as well as convert to electronic ignition.
Seems like the old gauge is in need of a bit more than cosmetic touch-ups though - looks like the needle is just hanging there on the jewel pin:
The magnetic coil thing moves and needle follows it sometimes and gets stuck sometimes... so, I get the feeling something's missing from the needle/pin. Is it supposed to float freely like this?
Would I be better off sending the tach to someone who knows what they are doing instead of trying to mess with it myself? If so, any recommendations for a rebuilding service?
