Hello,

Can anyone tell me how to verify if a motor is numbers matching?
Do the points of emphasis vary depending on the year of the vehicle?

tough on 67 on down...should be a c 440 hp stamped on the pad on the front of the block...rule of thumb is the block/heads build date are 90 to 180 days of car build date.....915 heads....familiar to 1967 only..chrome valve covers with wire looms also

its worth a shot to get under the car and look on the passenger side of the engine block front right side right above the pan rail, the VIN # of the car should be on that machined pad.

if the car is an automatic, it has the VIN on the bellhousing. there is a raised block on the case that its stamped on.

Correct, no VIN stamps on 67 and earlier cars.
