Miles tried to roll over and odometer stuck. Subsequently - Speedo started doing the wonky back and forth and ticking noise constantly at the same time the odometer stuck (pic looks like speedo is working but it was on its way to 150 and back ha). I greased the speedo line last year to fix that problem - but arose again with the odometer being stuck - gotta be related?

I will remove Speedo line and get some graphite on there but any recommendations on the odometer?

Found a spare dash in my spare parts box - although it’s a 120mph. Tooth gears look good - how do I transplant this entire setup to my current dash? Odometer pops out easy enough - but rest of assembly with speedo I don’t see how to remove.

Do I need to find this entire piece, as pictured, but a 150mph one? Any ideas? Thanks!

see the little white plastic spiral gear, that's what you will find failed in your unit. With patience and a few small tools you can remove and replace just that gear, you will get your experience when you remove the used part before you touch the original speedo.

Thank you.

Would that plastic gear piece also be responsible for my speedo acting up? Obviously I’ll know once I remove my dash but just confirming that one piece will solve both the odometer and speedo issue.

Thanks for your time!

Yes it would also make the speedo bounce all over

Follow Dan's advice and don't do this!

Yeah! Someone's attempt to roll back the odometer in the 80's??

I 've had this part (the plastic gear) fail on two Coronets,a '66 & a '67.The cause of failure both times was that the odometer locked up and took out the plastic gear.Make sure the odometer rotates before you replace the the plastic gear or it will surely fail again!

Odometer (thousandths gear) finally rotated on its own the other day - subsequently speedo now works as well.
