Of all the city folks here who has heard gunfire near their home?

I hear gun shot all the time, but it's mostly someone target practicing as I live a block from BLM land. But not at night around here, and if I do, then something else is going down like a punk breaking into a house or car.

In the city where I live, don't think I've ever heard shots fired. At my summer house in upstate NY, different story. People shoot all the time. A few years back, my son, nephew, buddy and I were shooting. We all decided to rapid fire all at once. So much fun and loud as hell. Well, 15 minutes later, 2 sheriffs cars and an unmarked pull into my property. The sheriff lives a half mile down the road. The deputies stepped out with their hands on their pistols. As soon as I saw them pull up, I told everyone to place their rifles on the ground and keep their hands in the open. Sheriff walks up to me and said he got a noise complaint from a neighbor. Told us no more rapid fire so he doesn't have to hear **** from the neighbors. My buddy tricked up his SKS with a synthetic Dragunov stock, bipod, scope. Deputy went over to him, looked at the rifle and just said " Sweet. Can I check it out?" Totally different mentality with city and country folk.

What's a meme?

A picture with a caption, sometimes funny or not. Something like this.

Usually cities have an ordinance for "no shooting". I'm in a township & it's allowed, thank god. Plus if the wind is from the east I can hear my range & a shotgun club that are both about 4miles away, especially if a big match with lots of guns going off at the same time.

My wife says she hears fireworks at night, but I don't, i'm too busy! :D

Depends on where you live. When I lived in west Denver I had cops chasing people through my yard. The week I moved away from that house, three people were shot about a few blocks from my house on 8th & Federal, I lived on 8th & King Street. I'm in Aurora now, and not much better, still hear gun shots once in awhile at might. More on the weekend days because there is a gun range not too far from me.

Yeah, Im up north, not in Denver, so gunfire around here is almost nonexistent, so this was a first in 21 years living here.

I'm in the city and can't say I've heard gunshots. They have been fired (some people were shot just last night not too far away). Its something we have to live with. Earlier light of Fall has meant hold ups on the walk home some years, but so far not me. Usually pretty slick, a hold up and a waiting car. People hand over the cash/wallet and go on their way. Just the way it is. I think it is getting better, but I don't need to hang out after dark in the Fall. There's also gunshot location systems in some parts of town and where I work. Don't know how those things work with silencers, but figure less well. Shooters got to keep their hearing, that's important. I have guns at home, but don't carry. The needs are different in different places. I remember my dad and grandfather shooting off my grandfather's backyard. Don't see my dad doing that now, but he also lives in the city.

Shooting at 0230 in an urban area= no good...
Shooting at 0230 I a rural area= hunting...
I'm lucky 25- 30 years ago this was just a little municipality 40 miles north of Houston, now it's as urban as downtown. Luckily we have or own local PD that has a not so nice reputation for interlopers/ trouble makers, there is another PD down the road that borders ours and they work well together so we don't get a whole lot of anything. The city offers $20CHL classes for its residents to boot.
Occasional store robberies when the trash migrates up here from the ghetto in north Houston...a few have gotten the message by several getting shot by PD/MCSO, but it's not sustainable....they keep coming and are to stupid to realize we won't put up with it.

One of my brothers lived in the Woodlands 40 years ago. I remember visiting. Beautiful place.

Its still nice, most of the woods are gone though...one of the requirements is that everything is hidden behind a facade of trees lining the streets... I like it but it can be a pita when you're looking for a specific place, you might get a glimpse of a driveway or a monument type sign.,.

My neighborhood is sufficiently armed.

Guns, guns, guns! Freedom, real men, power, ego, big man, coming of age, just got to have one, DEATH!
Wait a second!! What?? Where does thoughts like that come from??

Out here at the farm it is another tool like everything else. Take it away and you might as well take away all the other sharp objects(stabbing). And the hard objects (hitting). And the heavy things (crushing). And the driving things (hit and run).

Guns,knives,hammers,cars.....they all require an outside force for them to operate. Its the people that use them for wrong that need to be removed from circulation permanently and returned to the ground in a public fashion.

So you're ok with robbings and shootings?
