Of all the city folks here who has heard gunfire near their home?

I'm on the edge of suburbia. I can legally shoot in my area[pistol caliber/shotgun], but if I do....it's suppressed.

Well if the shots just started it could be tree trunks exploding from the fires? My financial advisor just came back from Pebble Beach area from a 3-day golf trip and said there was a smoky pall hanging over when the plane landed, probably like LAX looked back in the 70-80's!

I'm 150 mile east or more of most them current fires,
but yes it could be that too, if we had fires close....
BUT;
I think it was someone just killing a varmint of some sorts...
usually a .22 ca. sounding, But;
once in a while you hear a real center-fire firearm discharged too...
We have an issue with coyotes, turkeys
& something killing chicken, fawns/deer etc.
I live next to a game warden I hear all the stories...
