How about a 0-30 Synthetic for better lubricity at start up? I spin mine once without tapping the accelerator just to try to prime it. I get momentary noise, but not 45 seconds. 440.
Oil flow or something else wrong?

My 440/493 cranks and starts with instant oil pressure. New rocker arms and shafts with none of the slop you might see with high mileage parts. I had a high mileage 360 that would rattle at start up and at an idle. I replaced the rocker shafts and arms with ones that looked better. The car sounded as quiet as new with the replacement parts in there. I took my cheap Harbor Freight dial calipers to the old rockers and newer ones. I don't recall the exact specs but the old ones were elongated as compared to the replacements.
