Hey everyone,

Went out and started the car today and noticed the oil light came on, on the dash. Any ideas on how best to troubleshoot that. Engine is topped off on oil. The engine is a 440 and has a recent rebuild on it. Rear main is leaking but I am planning to hit that this weekend. Should I be ordering a new oil pump or could it be something else?

Thanks in advance,
Scott

Spun bearing, bad oil pump, bad sending unit, wire disconnected or broken on sending unit.

My 2 cents worth - Hook up an auxilliary mechanical direct reading gauge (with the tubing) to your sender port and know fer sure if you have pressure or not.

Then you can move on down the troubleshooting list from there accordingly (ie engine issue vs sender/wire issue).

Got lucky - bad sending unit! phew.... Going to get some gauges on it this weekend.
