I had done the same "got a PCV valve that fit" when I installed my krinkle black fabbed valve covers...BAD MOVE. That is when I developed problems with oil coming out of the breather for the first time. TheI just have a plan pcv valve the I found that fit my chrome valve covers.
I am a big fan of the 'shellac' type sealers for anything with a paper gasket. Try Permatex Aviation Sealer #3. Same basic product but with more chemical resistance. Even gasoline.I first used Indian head in 1972, been using it ever since.
With all that sealer why the need for gaskets?
The pickup tube on my 6 qt pans will not allow that. The tray and pan need to come out separately.I used high tack as well. Glued the gasket to the pan, the windage tray to the gasket and the 2nd gasket to the windage tray. Gasket surface on the block was left as is so pan removal would be easy when needed.
