Got a brand new 440 all new internals .055 over ,new oil pump , cam, bearings , crank turned all new runs great ! My question is on start up it takes 1-2 seconds for oil pressure to come up and sits at 65 + lbs . cold then holds 45-50 lbs at idle after warmed up , do I have any cause for concern ?

do you have a oil filter with anti-drainback valving..? if not, get one...

why would you be concerned?...thats fantastic oil pressure. its probably taking 1 or 2 seconds to register on the gauge....mine does that and i dont have any issues! are you using a mechanical oil pressure gauge or electric? if mechanical...you need to bleed the air out of the line!

My 440 does a similar trick but it sits for many days to weeks at a time. Also my old Ford truck had this problem and I narrowed down that it started after my last oil change. I suspected the filter and I was right. Put on a new filter and no more oil light staying on for a long time. When I cut the old filter open to investigate I found the bypass valve not sealing.

Hmmm, I may change the filter on my 440 and see if it makes a difference.
