Ok serious question for the crowd.

If planning to sell, I would leave the 383 emblems alone and leave it to the next owner.

Ok , maybe not real serious. BUT. I can't make up my mind which direction to go, if at all

Car in question is a 1967 Coronet 500. factory original 383 car and the side emblems still state as such. with 383 four barrel
BUT the car has a 440 in it and 440 air cleaner pie tin.

question is ;
Do I change the side emblems to match the engine ?
Change the air cleaner pie tin to match the emblems ?

Take the pie tin off all together and let the masses think its a 383 ?

Do nothing at all ?

The car has factory air so its not like anyone can detect the raised block without getting in real close

The car will be up for sale soon and maybe leave that decision to the next owner.?
BUT,,,I have the splash shields out so I could access the side mldgs retainers and now would be a good time to change the emblems

440 engine callouts were never put on 1967 Coronets, not even R/T's. They came on a few Chargers and Monacos. My vote is to leave it as is, if you are selling.

I had a 71 Cuda 340, shaker. I put a 426 Hemi in it, when I went to a cruise in, I put the hemicuda badges on the shaker. If I was at the local street race spot, the cuda 340 emblems went on. Lol. I'd leave it as is. Jmho.

My 67 just has V8 emblems, coronet 500 383 2 bbl car, my buddies 67 RT also just has V8 emblems. Not an expert but I don’t think they posted the engine size before 68

I think the 67 Hemi Coronet R/T's were the only 67 coronets with engine size emblems? Maybe??

1966-67 383 4-barrel Coronets had engine size call-outs on front fenders, as did 426 Hemi. Only call-out on '67 R/T was for optional 426 Hemi. I have never seen an R/T with just V-8 sign on the fender. Mine does not with standard 440.

How much are the emblems being sold here? If cheap enough - buy em and give them to the new owner as either a little bonus or increase the price a little to cover the cost- and let him decide. Would add a little more color to your conversation with him.

Did the 383 emblems originally come with this car from the factory? Met a guy yesterday with 67 Coronet 500 383 4 speed. Same color scheme but no 383 emblems but he was wanting to add them. We weren't sure if that was a factory option.

383 2-bbl would have had V-8 emblem. 383 4 bbl would have had 383 4 bbl emblem.

Not all that many 383 4 bbl 67 Coronet 500's made. My choice with the original poster's question would be to leave the 383 4bbl emblems and simply remove the 440 pie tin. Give it the impression that it's stock. If the 440 emblems are installed on a car that wasn't originally available with a 440, it would lead me to assume that it wasn't an original big block car.

I would leave the fender 383 badges alone. I can attest to the fact that back in the day of these vintage muscle cars, whether it be a Mopar or GM, engine swaps were very common. One example is a chevy SS with 396 badges that really has a beefed up 427.
I agree with those who say to leave it up to the next owner.

Had a 340 in a 1967 A body and still ran the 273 hi-po air cleaner and slick 273 hi-po valve covers.....not sure if anybody was fooled except when I rolled thru the gears.....
