old dirt bike memories

Thank you Evel Knievel. You made the '70s and '80s worth it.

Started out on a Ruttman Spyder (would love to find another) around 9yrs old riding vacant fields. Minibikes, dirt and street bikes are still in the shop today.

he was a great rider, fast rider
I was passing him on the hi-side of a banked corner
that had a bunch of whoopty doos, down low wasn't bad pretty close apart
up high they were like 6'-10' & in the middle about 12' apart

Bud, if you ever come across a nice, or at least complete Jackpine, PM me !!!

glad to see you posting..... I was curious how close you are to the train wreck
That's 3 hours away, I'm on the eastern side. I've been preoccupied lately but will eventually get back to the daughters car and posting updates.

Most recent project is fitting for this post... freshening this old smoker up for spring.

Another project I play with here and there, just working a few bugs out now. Thought I had a more recent picture but it's all together and ridable.

This dirt track on private property was a treat when we were kids on holiday ..... it doesn't exist anymore, but man it was fun when we went there.
My brother and sister and I ....with some random kid in the brown shirt. I'm in the red shirt at the back.

That was Rotorua.....around the eastern side of the lake near the turn-off to the blue and green lakes.

Wow, I haven't thought about this in a while.
When I was much younger, the first dirt bike I saw up close was something my older brother dragged home without my Pa knowing, at least not that the deal was done. It needed a little work. The two of them tinkered on it and got it to go, and my Pa got on first and took off across the road towards the back 40.
He came pushing it back down the driveway a while later. The two of them messed with it a bit more but then it got put in the machine shed and forgotten about for several years.

It got replaced later with a 4 stroke Suzuki 125, I don;t know the actual model besides that, but the thing had turn signals and knobby dirt tires. It would easily do 50mph down our "tractor roads" on the farm. But I don't think it would go much past 60 even on open road. It was plain blue. Wish I still had it. Wasn't powerful enough to be dangerous, but had enough to move out.
Still do have the LT125 quad. That thing is a hoot for what it is.

Oh, that first bike? it was a Suzuki RM250 from the 70's. It "quit running" because Pa took a part off of it so my older brother wouldn't kill himself trying to ride a motorcross bike as his first ever 2 wheeler. My Pa told me about it many moons later.
