Going back to your original post, your comment about spraying the wax and grease remover really threw me.
Once primed and sanded, you don't need a heavy solvent to remove sanding sludge. Like others mentioned, glass cleaner, final type wiping solvents, or denatured alcohol are fine.
Laquer thinner or acetone should be avoided over sanded paints as they are strong solvents and can seal a microscopically porous surface, and seal solvents inside. That will lead to adhesion problems.
Paint work is an art form. What each person does varies. My methods are only proven by going back and looking at 20 and 30 year old paint work.
