Wife has a 2011 Dodge Nitro. Apparently Chrysler has a feature that only sends power the power port (aka cigarette lighter) when the key is in the on/run position. Seems kind of dumb if you ask me. Can't leave your cell phone or any other device to charge without the key on.

She says she heard or read somewhere that this can be overridden somehow. At the fuse box?

Anybody heard of this? Or know how it can be bypassed?

Thanks

I have a 2011 Chrysler 200 Limited that has a second power outlet inside the console that's on all the time. Check there or her owners manual and maybe she has a 2nd also. Hope this helps.

My 2012 1500 truck has an always hot outlet on the dash, but of course the hidden one in the console that you would want to use to charge your expensive phone is not hot all the time and can't be made hot without rewiring.

it seems to me you're better off just adding another one somewhere and connecting power to a non-switched source. Oh i'd bet jcwhitney has about 42 different optoins.

I looked thru the owners manual and looked in the console. No second outlet. It plainly states in the manual that the outlet is only hot with the key on.
I'll figure something out.......
Thanks guys, Have a great day.
