Installed a new oil pan to fix multiple problems. Buttoning it back up, I notice the pinion snubber bumper is gone and the screw head punched thru the stop.
I just can't keep it together this year.

I know the feeling ,I put 1/4 gaskets on the carbs and now have pulled them 3 times. I now think the center carb is binding. Ordered 3 gaskets and only get 2. FUN FUN

Is the axle hanging right now? Looks like when the weight is on the wheels the snubber was touching all the time. Too close. The factory snubbers were the height the are for a reason. I can’t even get the mopar perf adjustable one on my car with my Dana 60. It’s too close on the lowest setting….

Yeah also had to exchange oil at Summit this morning since I ordered the wrong kind.

No, the weight's on the springs. I had 2-3 inches clearance.

I changed my snubber to 1 I found in a box of parts I had...it is not adjustable but is taller than stock...there is evidence it hits but not to hard. The adjustable was too tall

Then there's this. Car must have shifted on the jack stands a little. I did have an extra set under the front.
My garage floor is brick, nothing rolls or sits right.
I'm going to say I dodged a bullet here.

I put a cut piece of 2x12 under my jack stands

I can't begin to tell you how many bullets I dodged building my wagon. Had car on jack stands, opened tailgate to work on fuel cell location. In doing so my weight on the tail gate lifted the front off th jack stands in the front. Talk about a butt pucker moment. Got lucky got off th gate real fast and front end came down on the stands but about 4" further forward on the rail just before where the rail turns upward.

After working on big trucks, equipment nothing feels as safe as wood blocks. I've been crushed once and ain't about to let that happen again.

Yeah, I can relate.
As some of y'all may recall, I'm semi-famous around FBBO for not using jack stands in the past.
I've had several "incidents" where I didn't take the time to put stands under a car I'd jacked up over
the decades, often with (later) humorous results.
Hey, if you're gonna be stupid, you have to be tough, right?
Example:
I had my 2004 Ram 4x4 use me as the jack stand once, when the Chinese jack failed with me under the LR.
That's the only time I've ever seen my wife genuinely scared - she actually screamed, thinking I'd bought the farm.
When she finally came around that side of the truck to look, there I was. Truck had me by the shin (brake rotor)
and shoulders, laying sideways (bed), mashing me into the concrete.
She's freaking out, not knowing what to do....
With as much breath as I could gather, I whispered "JACK THE FLUCKING THING OFF ME". :)
I roll out of there, rubbing various parts of my body and admiring the cool rotor vent indentations in my leg
and she's staring at me like she's seeing a ghost.
"HOW?? The truck was ON you!"
Yeah, I know dear, trust me...
God's got a sense of humor. Living proof, right here.

Scary stuff and it happens in a second ,usually doing something you have done a thousand times. What i've been thinking a lot about lately is that my shop is a couple hundred feet from the house and i insulated the heck out of the both of them, no one would ever hear me yell as i often work alone. Used to be that i would always have my phone on me as some sort of backup but now you can't find one that's not the size of a coffee table so that's out.

Agreed on all of that here as well.
I've finally taken to using jack stands every time now, thanks to some badgering from folks here on FBBO
as well as the fact my wife doesn't wander out to check on me quite as often as she used to.
Doing all this stuff alone makes a fella feel mortal as I get older...and maybe I've used up all my chips
on the no stand thing. :)

To paraphrase Tucco,
When you're under the car and the jack creaks, you can feel the devil bite your ***.

Next on my list of accomplishments.
There's only one way for this to happen, and yes, that's what I did

Wow! I wouldn't crawl under a bicycle that was held up by that stand. I've used some sketchy stands before , that make my harbor freight recall stands look like the Brooklyn Bridge, but.........wow!

I've been using them for 40 years. I would say the car must have shifted a little, the stand did it ts job. I did have another set of stands under the front frame rails as back up, since I had it so high.

I was able to make a couple of passes today before we got rained out and it does seem like I got my oiling system problems worked out.
