I replied to an Orange Co craigslist ad for a used carter hemi/440+6 fuel pump for $40. There was no email listed, only a number. I sent the guy a couple texts to make sure it was the right pump, he really didn't know but I figured I would take it anyway. Was trying to work out a shipping price and he didn't respond. I try him back this AM, no response, and he pulled the ad. So, to s------------------------m, 714-***-xxxx, I hope karma does you good. He seems to sell a lot of vintage car parts in CA, so please keep this in mind in your dealings. thanks

You're not out anything, he just sold it to some one local most likely.

I'm just saying that the guy moves a lot of parts, it doesn't look like it's his first craigslist ad. Figured I would save everyone a day and a half of trying to get a hold of a jerk with poor sales ethics should you try to buy something off him.

No sympathy here, you're just whining because you didn't get your big $109 deal for $40. Tough. :crybaby2: Move on and quit slamming the guy here, he did you no wrong. You're not out any money at all. It's his part, and his choice what to do with it.

You might want to consider things from his end. You get in touch with him and say you want to buy, but need the item shipped. You then send him your address so he can calculate shipping, but there's no guarantee you're actually going to buy. He can send you the shipping info, and you tell him you'll take it, then you're never heard from again. I've had this happen plenty of times myself.

Until someone actually sends me payment, if someone local shows up at my door with cash in hand, they get the item.

Same here, I listed a grille from my Magnum and got 6 inquiries from people outside the area I placed the listing. I figured shipping for 4 of them, actual cost only, and never heard back. Someone shows up for a part first it is theirs. You could have gotten a ballpark price for shipping yourself and made him an offer including shipping, then PayPal payment right there if you really wanted the part. Better luck next time....
