Opened oil filter after 1st 50 miles

Have you ever taped a magnet to the bottom of a new gallon container of oil and see what shows up on it? I never have but seems like when one sits for some time, there's always some kind of a sludge that settles on the bottom.

Sorry, got to get this in. When the 09 Challenger was new, I sent a sample of the factory fill out for a test after about 5k miles and at first change. The place responded with a RED WARNING!!! Danger Mrs Robinson. When told it was break in and the car had been shipped and probably started **** number times and shut off, they said “oh, ok don’t worry. Subsequent samples were found to be normal. Running Amsoil 0-30 since. Purrs.

It is recommended that no ZDDP be added to break in oil that is already formulated as break in oil.

Doing this changes the formula already created by the manufacturer. It's written right on the bottle of additive " for off the shelf oils that don't have this anymore". Contact the oil company that you choose to use and ask them what they recommend. I contacted Penn Grade before my break in and they said DO NOT use any additive with their break in oil.

I used assembly lube on all the parts, primed the engine, ran it for 20 min. at 2,000 rpm. Let it cool down overnight, did some final tuning the next day then drained the break in oil and filter. Refilled with the same break in oil and a new filter. I opened up the filter and did find some small metal particles, like dust.

After 500 miles, finding some hilly back roads in order to coast and apply back pressure on engine components such as piston rings, I then changed the oil and filter again and replaced it with a parcel synthetic oil by Penn Grade. Could have went to 1,000 miles to do this. I cut this filter apart and found no metallic particles at all. That's just the way I did it.
