I have the opportunity to buy an original fluid pan for the torqueflite in a max wedge. It is unique to the max wedge only and not reproduced. It is as difficult to find as an original oil pan. Any thoughts on its value and a fair price?

First I've heard of that but I don't keep up with Max Wedge cars.....

your thinking of the oil pan on the engine, max wedge pansare totally different than any other engine oil pan. the tranny pans are all the same for 62-64 torqueflites.
if you look on the picture, i have a original 426 trans from a 63 plymouth max wedge savoy sitting there as well as a unrestored AAQA max wedge engine

I have to disagree with you. Not all trans pan are the same.I am not thinking about the oil pan. I know the max wedge oil pan is unique. I am talking about the trans pan, and according to the photos I have seen and the comments from both Norm Brady of crossramconnection.com and Greg Lane of maxwedge.com, the trans pan for the torqueflite on a max wedge is unique and not the same on any other Mopar. The max wedge pan has a drain plug, the other mopar pans do not.

My apologies as I am not sure myself. Several folks have told me the same thing you have. Now I don't know what is correct. If you are correct, what is the pan with the drain plug that I posted?:confused3:

My 62 Dart 318 car and 62 Sport Fury 361 car both have a drain plug on the trans pan...

I just looked in the 62 Dodge & Plymouth service manuals - figure 15 (section page 92 (Dodge) and section page 95 (Plymouth) - to change the fluid, remove drain plug from transmission pan...

my 63 plymouth stock pan also had NO drain plug.
remember these trannys were serviced and replaced constantly over the years and tranny shops just swapped out trannys and put in whatever they had laying around. they didnt care if it was numbers matching or not.

my 2 trans. were factory originals with same converter, pan, etc.
