I just sold my clock (same exact one) for a fraction of this thing. All of it was there and I was honest about it not working properly. This clock may not work (you never know) and he's asking $250.00. I'm used to seeing high asking prices, but someone bid on this thing! Crazy! Especially with one crumby picture and no box. How can you say "NOS" when you don't have a box or anything?

I have no regrets selling mine for cheap. I hope it works for its new owner (a fellow FBBO'er). But damn, too bad these things have gotten so out of control in recent years.

Hopefully I haven't offended anyone.

I would stick a sock in the hole before I spend $250+ for a clock. The people bidding/buying are to blame.

My thoughts exactly, one of those more money than brains.

Wow, u can buy an aftermarket tach to fill the hole for that much $.

you know what, maybe? i post the clock for sale and my buddy puts in the stupid bid and all of a sudden somebody pops it by 10 bucks and on and on. you never know. what' s he out? more to gain. people wouldn't do that would they, hum-maybe. i buy some stuff off the bay but not much. depending on what, i scrounge around for it. part of the game for me. :iamwithstupid:

...a person would still need to possibly find a bezel and wiring. Wow.

It's all about who needs the part. If it's Joe Owner doing a resto in the garage, there's no way he's dropping that kind of money on a clock. If you're a professional restorer doing contract work for someone and they're paying the bills, and you got to have that particular clock, $250... no problemo.

Was thinking the same thing! It happens all the time and I bet there won't be another single bid on it. NOS....what a moron.

they also have buddies that run the bids up to give it the impression its really that desirable, only the sucker that doesnt do his homework would actually pay that kind of money

Ebay's got some sort of algorithm that identifies shill bidding. I don't know how it works, but I thought I had won an item and it ended up I couldn't pay for it. When I went to pay, I got a screen that said the auction had been invalidated due to suspected shill bidding, and the seller had been suspended. I opened up the bid list and there were no 0 or 1 feedback bidders, which usually signal shill bidding is going on. I think the lowest feedback was 40 or so on any bidder, so I don't know what they look for but they apparently have a way of detecting it.

Never figured they actually cared that much, as long as it sells and someone pays they get their cut. They don't call it feebay, feebag, ebag, fleabay for nuthin :)

just because the auction sold for that much doesnt mean it will be paid for ...

me either. i dont see why they would give a damn, and would want that stuff ran up and sell to collect their fees

reputation.. if they didnt try and control it the site wouldnt sell a thing

rust is worth it's weight in GOLD now

I'm not going to say every purchase from E-Scam/Bay is a bad one, BUT E-Scam/Bay has been & always was a risk & still is IMHO, buyers beware, allot of rusty crappy way over priced **** out there, too many unscrupulous sellers, swearing it's the be all, end all, to go to buy place, I'm not one of that crowd... I sure use to, seem to find all the POS scam artist sellers, every freaken' time, even the ones with good feedback ratings, it's never what's in the photo, never the condition thats advertised, never any recourse from E-Scam/Bay management/administration either... I don't/won't buy on E-Scam/Bay any longer, haven't for a couple years now, I know, I know, waaaah waaaaah waaaaaah, I'll take some cheese with my Whine please...LOL... I will find parts elsewhere, I'm sure I'm not the only one either, there's allot of parts out there still, that aren't way over priced, some of the people on E-Scam/Bay think there rusty **** is worth it's weight in Gold, some people even on this forum, think it's the be all end all, more power to ya... Personally I will take my chances at swap meets, papers, car shows, here on the "for sale forum", private parties, word of mouth, wrecking yards & other auction sites, from honest people, that don't want an arm & a leg for rusty 40+ year old crap, I prefer somewhere that, I can touch the part, look at, talk to a person "In Person", at least by phone, not freaken' just E-Mail or message board crap, or know I can get back with that person, if the part isn't what was claimed... I know there are supposed to be, allot of honest people on E-Scam/Bay, I just haven't found any thou... Sorry-Rant over, no response is necessary, from the people that think E-Scam/Bay is so freaken' great... That's my Honest Opinion, now live with it, I have...
