So my father in law and wife come to me with a proposition to sell my 71 Satty and my 04 Escalade and pick up an 09/10 Challenger R/T or SRT8...
Don't know what to think...

Couple of questions.

Does your wife not like the car or you messing around with it and/or is father in law paying for the challenger?
How much are you going to miss that Satellite?

Get rid of the 04 Escalade, keep the 72 Satty & get a 09/10 Challenger or SRT best of both worlds...LOL...

Seeing your car in numerous pictures, Im sorry, I couldn't do it if i were you, Those Challengers are a great looking car, My wife and I (more her) would love to own one, but nope, If i had the Challenger, id trade ya for your Road runner, and i could care less its a clone, tribute, or whatever, ITS NICE!

my wife likes it...i do like the new challengers, especially the SRT8 6spd manual..i'm sure i'd miss the satty..but it's always something w/ classics...when i am w/out a toy in the garage..theyre usually missed on nice days/cruise nights...

haha..i wish my father in law would pay...he's cool..but he ain't that cool!

Maybe im miss understanding what your saying hear, it sounds like you have had to do a lot of things to keep your Satty going for those nice days and cruise nights, I know you have to but, if this is the case, the 09-10 Challenger is an old car now, lots of new computer stuff different in many ways to our cars now, im just saying i would feel more comfortable fixing a older car then one of these things where you need a tool or computer just to tell you what might be wrong. MHO..

It's totally up to you but once it's gone, it's gone. I would love to own a new Challenger and someday I will, but will never give up my Charger. I have driven a 6 speed R/T, and they are great cars, but there is still something missing, again it's a great car, but just not the same as our originals.

Thanks man, i was typing didn't see this, one day at a time is all i can say and i truly thank you sir!

What is missing is the body roll, outdated handling/braking. The performance is unbelievable in the new cars. You can be going 100mph w/ the air on and not even know it. The older cars that we grew up with are a part of our youth and that's why I love mine, but the new Challenger is a lot more car than the old one. That being said I wouldn't part with my Plymouths unless someone came along and made me an outrageous offer on them!

I have to agree with Ron and still have wonder why "they came to you" with the proposition in the first place ... sounded like an intervention LOL

cause they know that as far as anything new...that is right up my alley!
It's the "it's always something" that's frustrating...but you don't get one w/out the other i guess...i put a new motor in her last april...now she's getting a new rear..

When I was building the Belvedere the wife always had a new car with a payment book. The $350 a month on her car was always covered. When it was time to pop for the $1000 rear that was justified by, Hey its only 3 car payments! Point is the new Challenger probably comes with a thick payment book that you had better not miss any. The old car can roost in its nest waiting for the the budget to allow expenditure.

Good point...but i am figuring w/ both escalade and satty sold...should net me close to what i'd pay for an 08-09

I have a 2009 challenger R/T great car, plenty of power put a blastin bob's exhaust on a cold air intake,T/A hood ,and crager rim's.But it's not that classic car.Does'nt sound the same as a classic car, a different kind of power and get this it's the worst part there's no wrenching on it.I need to go out and putter around on stuff with a newer car and all the electronic's i can't mess with it.Do what i did by the new challenger for the wife (at least tell her that)and keep the classic for you best of both world's

That's an idea...may have to wait a few yrs..at least until my boys are out of the rear facing car seats...for now she's in a Hemi Aspen! post some pics of your challenger for me would ya?!!

Figure out what you want. I assume since you have the Satellite, that's what you wanted, or you'd already have a new Challenger. Sounds to me like somebody is stickin their nose in your business trying to change your version of what you want.

How much are repair cost on your Aspen and Escalade above warranty. Newer cars with all the new technology is way more expensive than the older ones to repair. Maybe in a couple years after the boys get older you can think about selling the escalade and getting a challenger or maybe even a newer charger. I like the newer challengers but i'm and old fart and will keep my classics. When the time comes, I will get the wife a newer car.
