just watch the last episode of the above, very good show about the unique "opal the made in Australia" . if you get a chance to watch it do so ( was on discovery )

I love opals. It is my birthstone. I went to Townsville once while in the Air Force. I remember several awesome "Opal" stores with some incredible specimens. Hard ,dirty work mining for Opals.

I've saw the show, very good. I've also seen a show awhile ago about living underground in Australia, neat.

Looks like some of them are extremely colorful
hadn't known they came in so many colors
learn something new daily

I did see an episode of American Chopper where Vinnie & Fatboy
went to Australia, they did some opal mining & found some

If them 2 can do it, it must not be too hard

the worst part is gowning down a very small hole ( 18 -30 M ,59 foot to 108 foot ) to find them. if you look at the thee photos in the middle the make up one view .
