Overheating Question

He's the kinda guy who doesn't drive mopars in winter (he'll tell you he doesn't), but when you crank her up every week to keep the juices flowing then she'll never warm up in the cold. He's up by Racine around here where I live and it gets damn cold enough to freeze the snot on the inside of your nose.
 
Well guess what,went to a car show today in London Ont,something like 3000 cars ,some of the cast of American graffitti was there and George Barris.Anyways i was running around 60 miles per hour on 401 highway and the temp gauge was at 3/4 hot.When i got caught in traffic and just crepping for about a mile ,the temp started comming down,I dont run any gearing ,,just stock.This has me stummped .anyone else experience this

I experienced something very similar to that in 1987 when I first got car on the road. Some dumb *** (me) put the fan was on backwards.
 
Thanks Crunchy Frog,i dont think i have it on backwards ,but it is worth taking a look
